Exclamation drinking

I'm heading down to PCB March 12-? and my friend isn't 21, but has her sister's ID. Will she have problems drinking down there with it? Also, does anyone have any tips on what to pack?

I wouldn't risk getting arrested while on vacation. Is it really worth it? Wait a couple years as Kasket says.

Is the drinking age really that strict in the US? over in the uk if your caught drinking under the age of 18, you will probably just have it conviscated and told to get on your way!

Kind of depends on where you are I guess. I have had many friends get busted for underage drinking and it usually results in doing community service and/or probation, not to mention court fees and/or fines. Nothing I would want to pay or serve.

You won't find any sympathy from the local police if you are caught doing dumb stuff and drunk. It's in the tank you go and pay your fines, fines, fines. So if you are not of legal age to drink and you do, it had better be out of sight. Every spring break somone always thinks their stuff don't stink and they can do what they want. Not! You won't like the down side.

Do you think that it's fair to be punished in that way? I think its pretty harsh, from an outsider looking in it seems that in the US drinking at any age is a bit more of a taboo, where as in europe drinking really isnt an issue, Even more so in countries like france and italy. There is a major concern in the UK about binge drinking, but its kind of accepted the teenagers will have their first drink at around the age of 14 or 15, although the law and parents dont encourage it.

Well, I know over here a lot of kids get killed b/c of drinking. Mostly in drunk driving accidents, but we all know people do stupid things when they are drunk and sometimes that can prove to be deadly. I think that is how law enforcement looks at it anyway.

I was gonna mention drink driving in my previous post but didnt deem it to be relevant but was gonna say that your driving age is 15 isnt it? maybe 16 not sure anyway, could it be that the driving age that is too low perhaps? because we all know that youngsters are gonna get their hands on booze someway or another if they really want to.

Well you can blame that on the bible thumping do gooders out there and MADD and SADD and anyone else who is tired of seeing the carnage on the road ways. Look I agree with you that the drinking laws in our country are antiquated and dated and don't take into consideration real life issues. But it goes way back to home life first. If you teach youngsters early what a drink is and the consequences of abuse then it becomes a non issue. My linage is German and as early as 4 5 and 6 years of age I remember drinking Kinder beer and have had wine at the Sunday dinner table along and along, so when I got to high school and college instead of going, oh boy lets get drunk, I yawned because it was a non event. I do not believe that abstinence of life is the correct thing, learning how to deal with the reality of being a human being is. We as humans will try it just because. Sorry, did not mean to get into this so deeply, but it always ticks me to hear the same old crap and it boils down to someone else dictating how we should act by law and not common sense.
