Seaweed?

Can someone explain this seaweed to me? When does it come and how bad is it really? Does it attract black flies and mosquitoes? Help.Please. I am comming down in July the second week 2005.

Seaweed usually shows up early to mid-summer for a few weeks. Last summer wasn't bad at all. In fact, there was hardly any seaweed at all.

It really isn't a problem in the water, but it can smell a little when it washes up on shore and the sun hits it. Most hotels have crews that keep it cleaned up, so it usually isn't a problem.

And I've never seen it attract bugs... the breeze keeps any bugs off the beach.

Thank you so much. I'm trying to put together out first vacation on Panama city beach and I hope it'll be the 1st of many.
