Thanks so much for the information! We have really been looking for to our week down there so I'm glad to hear PCB came through in such good shape. I'll check with Sterling Beach tomorrow, hopefully they came through with no damage.

Looks like Capt. Anderson's narrowly avoided getting flooded, but Boatyard was not quite as lucky. About 1 ft of water was in the restaurant. But I know the owners and I would expect them to be open within a day or two. I'm sure we'll hear more about Boatyard tomorrow. Several homes in the North Lagoon area were also flooded.

Storm surge was a little higher for Dennis than it was for Ivan. Some resorts may have first floor cleanup to work on, but I doubt there was any significant damage to any resorts or hotels (other than Pinnacle Port, which I just learned refused to participate in the original Beach Renourishment project after Hurricane Eloise in 1975.. and subsequent renourishment projects... which has left them vulnerable in every hurricane since then. The reason... they didn't want to open their beach to public access. I bet they're really regretting that decision now).

Anyway... the news is almost all good and really no terrible news at all for the Panama City Beach area.

Sunbird

This is a wonderful & helpful site. My husband & I had just about decided that we were going to have to go to another beach, such as Daytona. We have vacationed in PCB for the past 15 years and we love it there. We have reservations at Sunbird, June 23-30, and we just hope that everything is back to normal or as close as possible by then. I have watched more weather channel in the past 24 hours than I ever have, hoping and praying that everything and everybody would be okay down there. If anyone has any info about the Sunbird area, please keep us posted. Hopefully with a couple of weeks to go before vacation time everything will be beautiful as usual.

Edgewater

We are visiting PCB June 17-23. This will be our 4th trip, all at Edgewater. I'm hoping there wasn't much storm damage to the beach and the buildings/facilities. I'd appreciate any updates about edgewater. Also, how long before the golf courses are playable?
Thanks, Mike.

Photos?

Great job on keeping us informed, Steve. We're waiting to hear the word on Boatyard (I'm one of those nervous owners)... we evacuated to Myrtle Beach, and waiting to get in and assess the damage. Doesn't look like it's going to be that bad... one thing for sure, we'll have the BAR open! I need a drink!
Ha!

Photo of our house (the one that is boarded up) during the height of landfall in PC... so, you can see, it really wasn't that bad. I don't think anyone needs to cancel their vacations to PC or Destin...

We'd appreciate the business! Ha! Looks like I'll need to buy a new dock!

One more

Here's a great shot from my neighbor who stayed home during the storm... 3 foot waves in the bay... splashing over his pool, against his windows. But, really
no lasting damage.

PC looks in good shape

Looks like the worst of damage occurred at the Dan Russell pier, there's more missing off the end.

Do you know how the Holiday Inn Sunspree came out? We have reservations on Thursday of this week and I need to know if I should cancel them today (have to cancel by 6PM today according to their instructions). The news reports all seem to be only showing Pensacola so I am at a loss to see how PCB came out. Do you still have power there in most places?

I've been trying to reach Sterling Beach all morning, the automated recording picks up but when it transfers the calls nobody ever answers. I don't know if they are without power, or just swamped. Any of ya'll from PCB know how the Thomas Drive area fared as far as power outages? We are supposed to leave Saturday so we really need to make sure our trip is on go. I wonder if there is a number like the Chamber of Commerce where you can call and get info about a specific place?

Live Cams Back up

Schooners is back up... working on the Sunset Cam, but it should be up soon.
Marcia is cleaning the lens so you can get a clear view!

Now, that's service! By the way, Schooners Live Cams were the video source for NBC yesterday. Cool, huh?

Capt. Andersons Reopening Tuesday!

Just talked to Yonnie Patronis. Capt. Anderson's got no damage... not even any water in the building. They will be open for business as usual tomorrow (Tuesday, July 12)

Hooray! We love Capt. A's!

Boatyard Reopening Tonight...

We hope to have Boatyard back open tonight...
We had a couple feet of water in the dining room last night... white caps in the dining room... what a scene!

But, we're rinsing it all out... the kitchen was sandbagged and didn't get touched... and since our bars are built out of concrete and tile, we're just hosing it down and getting ready for business as usual.

We will know more later today... we will be open FOR SURE tomorrow, Schooners is opening for sure today... we're trying our best to get Boatyard cleaned up and ready for tonight... more later.
