Not sure about Sterling Beach, but Holiday Inn Sunspree will be open according to last night's news. Try calling them again.

Talking Holiday Inn Sunspree is OK

Their phones were out this morning according to the corporate office. They have no damage - just debris. So I will head down Thursday morning as planned. They also told me that if I don't like it when I get there, they will not charge me a cancellation fee due to the storm. But as long as the pool is open and Capt. Anderson's is serving. I am staying. Thanks to all of you who responded with info. Hope everyone who is headed there this week has a great vacation. Sorry, it took me so long to get back, but the power at my house was out for about an hour, but we are ok now.

See you in PCB - Cookie

Beach Drive status

We are renting a home on Beach Drive near St. Andrew State Rec. Area beginning on Saturday, July 16. Does anyone know if this area survived Hur. Dennis okay? We will be driving from MO so we need to know before leaving on Friday.

Thanks for your help.

I still can't get anyone at Sterling Beach, anyone know the status of the power on that end of Thomas Drive? I"m hoping maybe they're just trying to clean up the mess and don't have time to answer although I tried reservations and the front desk and got no answer at both.

I live a half of a block of off Thomas dr. and I never lost power. I doubt that is the case.

The owners and/or staff may have left the area and maybe they haven't returned yet. Keep trying you'll probably get an answer tonight or tomorrow.

We just stopped by Schooners a few minutes ago. The beach is washed out a little, but not too bad. Check it out on their Live Cams.

The beach along Gulf Drive was washed out a little... there were a few steps down to the beach that were washed away... but no major damage.

In the areas where renourishment from Ivan had already taken place, it appears that Dennis has washed it away and it's back to the same condition it was after Ivan. All that work saved a lot of businesses and homes... but it will all have to be done again!

Also, I talked to a friend that works at Criolla's in Grayton Beach and he said everything is okay for Criolla's and all the restaurants he's talked to around Seaside / Seagrove / Rosemary / Watercolor, etc.

Criolla's will reopen tomrrow and most of the HWY 30-A area didn't even lose power. There was some moderate beach erosion, of course, but Seaside and those towns don't waste any time getting their "storybook beaches" back to pristine shape when storms come through.

I finally got Sterling Beach, he said they are up and running. He did say they lost about 8 feet of beach and a walkway, but the walkway will be repaired by Thursday. So yay, my vacation is ON!
