We just stopped by Spinnaker (we're relocating their live cam to a better view) and there were a TON of people on the beach! I can't believe how many people were there. Mostly around Spinnaker and the Summit... but it looked like there were people all up and down the beach.

Spinnaker is in great shape. They were reparing the steps leading down to the beach when we were there. They lost about 4-5ft of sand dunes leading up to the edge of the deck... but other than that, everything looked great.

Hello! A newbie here. We are going to be staying at the Osprey starting July 20. I heard there are a couple more storms possibly making the same track as Emily. Hope everyone fares well. Any news on Highway 331? Any wash-outs? Thanks!

HWY 331 is all clear and the Bay Bridge is open. Good luck!

moonspinner

Wow...there's tons of great info on this thread.
I posted a new thread previously but thought I'd try my luck here as well. We are scheduled to check into the Moonspinner near St. Andrew Park on July 22. Any info would be greatly appreciated...haven't been able to contact them directly yet...concerned about beach erosion.
Thanks again...from southern Indiana. Good luck to all the future travelers!

PCB or bust

We are leaving Saturday from Texas, and arriving Sunday for a week of laid back life in PCB! Can't wait.
If Emily decides to turn that way, do they force you to evacuate the resorts?

It's way too early to start talking about Emily. But I would think any reputable resort would have some type of refund policy if a hurricane forced evacuation.

Contact your hotel and ask them what their policy is. Based on that, I would keep my reservations until the last possible minute. Emily could go anywhere.

Check out the photos on SoWal.Com... please note as the website states that the pics of the Hurricane Dennis aftermath only represent the worst damage and do not paint a fair picture of the overall condition of the beaches.

Beaches of South Walton photos after Hurricane Dennis

And an amazing photo of Dennis approaching here.

Come on down, Beach Bums!

It's great in PC... no damage, really... we just had a little flooding at a few places right on the water, but, we know how to handle that!

We just opened the doors and let the water flow right through the places, then we hose it down and open back up! Everything's all clean like brand spanking new!

Here are a few pictures of our restaurant... Boatyard. After these pictures were taken, the water rose another foot and a half, but we are fine... all our furniture was moved upstairs, we sandbagged the kitchen doors so no water got in, and all our electrical stuff was installed very high, in anticipation of these things. The floors and bars are made of concrete and stainless steel, the walls are made of the same kind of tile they use in swimming pools! After a few years on the coast, you learn a few things! So... really... no worries. Everyone's open and doing great! See the Boatyard Live Cam and Schooners cams:
