Went water skiing this weekend with some friends (including Luke from TripSmarter and Randy from Beach TV's Club Hour) and had a blast.

During one of the runs when Randy was zig-zagging behind the boat like a pro, a huge Manta Ray jumped out of the water right beside the boat. It cleared the water by 3 or 4 feet, looked like it weighed 40-50 lbs and was about 5-6 feet across. Dark gray with yellowish spots on it.

It was traveling in the opposite direction of the boat and was literally only a few feet away from us... flying 20-30 yards through the air. Luckily, Randy happened to be on the other side of the boat, avoiding what would have surely been a serious collision. We were going 30mph and the Manta was probably going 20 mph... I wish everyone could have seen the look on Randy's face! Priceless!

Anyway, it was the highlight of my weekend and "one of those things" that just happens when living on the Emerald Coast. Needless to say, we'll be bringing a video camera next time.

P.S. Manta Rays are harmless (except in mid-air collisions). They're like really large stingrays, but without the sting in the tail. Some can get as big as 10-12 ft across. They are sometimes confused as sharks... their wingtips stick out of the water and look like a shark's dorsal fin. Amazing creatures, though.

Randy has danced with trans-whatever they were in Key West, humped a fake pony on stage, told a bar full of people that he loves bukakke, something about diving nekkid in a movie (I think I'll skip that one) ... I really don't think there is anything left for him to be embarassed about.

In fact, someone should dig up the link to that Club Hour Top 10 or whatever is was that showed the "best of" Randy in all his ... well ... whatever.

OK, OK...so the Hooter's costume might have been a bit much, but I have to side with Ted, a tame day in Key West typically tops the wildest of anything I ever imagined I would be in the middle of...so have your fun.

I will agree that nobody can top Tom Luna for pure insanity. He makes Randy look sane. Add in Luna's, um ... Key West lifesytle and the shot you described and one can only imagine.

As for Randy driving a boat, or Randy and boats (and water and bridges) period, one must only check out Club Hour - Water Tour. I hadn't ever visited Panama City Beach before. I had a trip planned and found Tripsmarter and this is one of the first videos online I ever saw. All I could think was "If everybody down there is this crazy, it's going to be a hell of a vacation."

This still has to be one of my all time favorite clips. Kelly played the perfect straight man. Priceless.
