In the interest of making information more readily available and the internet more accessible, I wanted to share this article I just found on RSS for local newspapers and sites:

hey trishben, I don't know what browser you use -- but firefox has a builtin rss reader that allows you to subscribe to feeds right in your browser... I use it and love it.
we're looking into making feeds available from here.. stay tuned.

My husband uses Firefox, it's not my cup of tea..... I actually use Newscrawler to keep up w/ my feeds... I'll be VERY glad when this goes to RSS. :)

Now, I am fairly computer literate, but would someone like to enlighten me as to what RSS feeds are? I see Firefox mentioned, which I have heard of but don't know what they do!

RSS (really simple syndication) and ATOM are better ways of getting information. Say for example you keep up with 75 web sites a day. Maybe for your job, you need to know whatever comes out on those 75 sites every single day, maybe sometimes a few times a day.

RSS and ATOM allows web designers to provide a "feed" of their content, like a channel of that data you can subscribe to. An RSS Reader (like Newscrawler) creates a newspaper format, it subscribes to these feeds and downloads them into an easy way to read it. Newsreaders can run constantly in the background polling your site subscriptions. It also alerts you when there is late breaking news. This way there is no typing in http://gotothis.address.com each time you want to check something out.

this rss feed is showing the latest THREADS, not the latest posts... which is pretty good for now, let me keep looking and see what I can come up with... Steve, care to give a hand?
