Alright, my husband does not think Mo will be happy with us at the state park in that cabin. He says dogs do not like change, as in being in places they are not familiar with. I think he will be fine as he will be with us the entire time like he is here. And about all he does is lay around and sleep. I think he is overreacting. I think he will enjoy the walks outside and the laying on the deck while we are sitting outside. I am sure most on here will agree with me.

I know our little guy will go for almost anything, as long as we're with him. he HATES it when we go away and leave him hime... but he seems to love riding to the park or almost anywhere else.

Another solution

Our dog goes with us EVERYwhere.... and there are LOTS of hotels that welcome dogs. The other solution here in Panama City Beach is the Beaches Pet Motel... kinda cool if your condo or hotel won't welcome your pooch, cos you can take your dog to the "motel" at night - where he/she can enjoy a slumber party with friends, then, you can pick him/her up in the morning and hang out together, go for walks, etc. The place is owned by vets, and they do a GREAT job - brand new building - nice folks.... nice runs. It's a compromise, but - a pretty cool one. Lots of great tips about traveling with your pet and how to make them comfortable, plus contact information on their facility at:
www.animalcarecenter.petplace.com

You know, we love our governor - Jeb Bush. He recently signed the "Doggie Dining" law - allowing restaurants in Florida to accept dogs if they wish. So, remember - if you are taking your pup out - remember to dress for dinner!

Wish I'd known about this place before cancelling our reservation. Oh well, 8 to 9 hours is a long drive with a large dog. And we would be in our newer Honda and I am not crazy about him getting hair in that car. Anyway, I will keep this place you mentioned in mind. Looks like a great place, that was what I was looking for. I knew there had to be some place down there like that. What would a person do with their dog all day? Other than Frank Brown Park and the play area for them. He is so long haired he would not be able to stand it out all day. We could probably only manage him two or three hours out somewhere a day anyway. BTW, is that your cute poochy in the tux???

Toni, I LOVE your picture of your little poochy in his tux.... but he doesn't look too happy, like the other dogs will beat him up if they found out... What kind of dog is he? Another lifetime ago I had a toy dachshund that I used to put sweaters on...

Smile Doggie Rules

As I read the above post I applaud and admire everyones connection and love for their K9 comrades. We have been blessed with THE perfect dog sitter on our trips to PCB but not this year. My awesome mother-in-law will be a grandmother again about the time we plan on coming back to the beach so she will be busy with other matters. Our dog is 14 years old and has traveled with me on several trips but the beach will be a new experience. Does anyone know the rules concerning dogs on the beach? We have rented from the same wonderful lady for some time now and she is making an exception for us and allowing us to bring Mattie with us. We just want her to have fun with the rest of the family. We are not familiar with beach rules and pets so any info will help us plan a better vacation for her. Thanks everyone!

Ridge - pets are not allowed on any of PCB's beaches except a dedicated "Doggie Beach" just west of the city pier (Pier Park)

More info is here:
Bay Families with Dogs // Dog Friendly Public Spaces :: Frank Brown Park

We haven't taken our pooch out there, yet.... but I'm sure we will this summer.

Have a great trip!

Thanks swn5363! I suspected as much but it's good to know there is a place to take her to burn some of that energy off as I try to burn off some donuts. Thanks again!

Doggie Beach was a Blast!

The dog beach is a great place to to play even if you don't have a dog. And yes, not all pet owners are responsible enough to access the free poop bags or as we call them, "Hot Pockets", but even though it reminded me of a mine field we met several people who came there just because it's a nice place to go. Mattie ( our pooch ) had a blast in and out of the water. Thanks to all for your pet stories and pics, to SWN5363 for bringing this beach to our attention and to those responsible for it's creation. I will never forget the great time my family had there!
