I hope not. I have never been to Shipwreck Island but I like water slides and would like to go. Nothing will be left other than the aquatic park and the ocean if they close up. If offered enough money I am sure they will sell out to developers like the Miracle Strip amusement park did. Destin is the only other place with a water park and some people on another forum site say Shipwreck Island is better than the one in Destin.

Just speculation on my part, but I'd say it's only a rumor. New development has really slowed down in PCB. Even some of the stuff that's already been started seemes to be on hold. I think developers are having a hard time with pre-sales, which makes the investors a little jittery.
Given the current state of real estate in PCB (and the rest of the US), the good but slowing economy, higher interest rates, and the abundnace of condos and new resorts in the area, I can't imagine someone would start another project as ambitious as it would have to be if they were purchasing Shipwreck Island. Long live the speed slide!

A Tripsmarter party? Now, could PCB handle all of us? We know TOO MANY secrets! HA! Sounds like a plan -- start at Schoons and stroll, stumble and roll down to Spin....
I'm game....pick a date! |

they'e got to keep it
They really need to keep Shipwreck, it's a great place of employment for the youth, a great family oriented amusement park, and they even serve beer. An added bonus is that no one ever has to take a pody break, were else can a family all pee together simultaneously while waiting in line for their favorite ride.

your not supposed to drink it anyways
Oh come on now the chemicals are in place for just that reason, they have a pretty elaborate filtering system from what I've heard. I've never met anyone who told me they've never pee'd in a pool before. As disgusting as I'm sure the thought of swimming around with a higher than usual ammonia content is, once you walk into the bathroom barefoot I'm sure you'll have a notion to run right to the lazy rive,r grab a tube, and just the good times roll. I bring sandals and get a locker so I can use the facilities I'd suggest the same for anyone else who goes, but like the old saying goed if you can't beat them join them.

I hope it doesn't because it takes away from the excitement of the town not to have anything that draws in youngsters and fun. Even though I am too old to ride the roller coaster, I still loved to see my grandson on it, and ride down the strip and see those swings turning there next to front beach road. It gives you a natural high to see that you know? And, now,
If shipwreck closes, what will be next? I am wondering if it will be Goofy Golf, as when we were there, the displays were not working and broken and it was obvious they were not doing any repairs. Wondering if they are eventually going to close it too? I hope not, but, I don't understand why they would bring that Ripleys to the beach, in which, I did not really enjoy, and close down the wonderful outdoor things, in which makes it so much fun, that it is outdoors. I can go to a museam back home. When I'm at the beach the last thing on my mind is reading! Besides, I had already seen most of that stuff in books. Anyway back to the waterpark, I hope they don't close it down, and they need to build a new amusement park! |
