Here in 11 days we will be on a 12 hour drive to PCB!!! I can't wait. How is the traffic? Any road construction on highway 231 or Interstate 65 that I should be aware of? I heard there was an overpass by the express route is that correct? Also what do you think the weather will be like Sept. 10-17? I hope it is not raining my kids are looking forward to the beach.

Major construction at Montgomery on 65 N and S just before you get of on 231.

Get of off 231 at Troy and get on AL167 to the Florida state line. It turns into FL79 which brings you to the west end of PCB. It will shave 30 to 60 minutes of off your drive.

I just drove that route last week.

I suggest you check out the DOT websites - but I am not aware of any construction on 231 in FL -- Int 65 - couldn't tell ya - that is in AL

Mid-Sept weather is pretty great -- check our Weather in the Southeast Forum for updates -- our weather guy is suppose to keep that updated!

The water is a bit icky at the moment b/c of all the rain we have had - but will probably be clear by then - provided we don't get hammered by anything from the Tropics!

Is there an overpass by the express route, or am I hearing rumors?

I'm not sure that I understand the question....but here goes.....

The flyover is open from the Beach into Panama City by the Community College - if you are familiar w/ that route -- but coming into the Beach from the East, there is no overpass...lots of construction.

yep it sure was, I thought I heard about it. Me and my husband are always looking to avoid the bumber to bumber traffic. But maybe the traffic wont be so bad in Sept, like it is during vacation months.
