A good friend of mine sent this to me today. Does anyone from Ruby Tuesdays have a response?
"I am calling for a boycott of all franchises of the Ruby Tuesday's corporation. I have worked at the Ruby Tuesdays in the Panama City mall since Oct. 2005 and I couldn't have asked for a better job. The money wasn't great but the management was laid back, my coworkers were entertaining and they seemed to treat their employees with respect. Apparently I was very wrong about two of those assessments.
If you pass by the mall today you will notice that the Ruby Tuesday sign that has been there for almost fifteen years is now gone. The lease on the restaurant is up and we will no longer have a Ruby Tuesdays located in Panama City.
Now if you were a manager of a restaurant where you were friends with almost all your employees how would you let them know about their sudden loss of employment? Would you tell them ahead of time so they could begin to look for new jobs? Or would you have a mandatory meeting at eight in the morning to let them know that the night before was the last night the store would be open? Ruby Tuesdays prefers the latter.
How do they expect people to pay their bills? What about the older servers who have worked there for years, not many places are willing to hire 65 year old women to wait tables. Or how about the people who have been there for five or six years? Good thing I have two jobs so I should still be able to pay my bills but what about everyone else? So if anyone knows of a good serving job tell your former local Ruby Tuesday employees.
But even if you can't help with finding employment for us, you should boycott Ruby Tuesdays. I know any corporation willing to put everyone out of work with no notice doesn't deserve my business. How thoughtful of them to do it so early in the morning so we could all go out to look for new jobs."
