Watching Dean
Hey all -- We're scheduled down next weekend. Been looking forward to this all year. Now Dean has to rear his ugly head. Is it just wishful thinking on my part that it looks like his track is going off to the west? Just wondering from someone local, if it would hit around the lower part of Texas, would it impact the PCB area? Didn't know how much you feel from something that far away. My real wish is that he would just fizzle out and not hit anywhere on our shores, but it looks like he may get us somewhere.

It all depends... The surf will be affected regardless, how much and how rough just depends on how close it gets to us.
As for the weather... it depends on how big and how close it gets. If you're outside of the rain bands, you won't feel much of an effect except for a nice breeze (much apperciated this time of year!) It could literally be sunny and nice weather, then 20 miles towards the storm it could be rainy and windy. I'm predicting it will hit the Yucatan and fizzle out. I'm no weather man, but I do have experience in fortune telling... which I think qualifies me. ;) |

I'll go along with that prediction. I'm no fortune teller, but great minds do think alike! It looks to me unless it takes a drastic turn it won't affect the area directly, but I wasn't sure what that activity out in the gulf did to the water quality, etc., and how long it took to reach you or settle back down.
Not that I have anything against the folks in the Yucatan, but I hope that's as far as it gets! |

grenidlady, my husband and I are supposed to be down next weekend also for a week. We are holding our breath that it keeps a direct trek west or fizzles out. We've already paid for our lodging for the week. We haven't been to the beach in two years. So we definitely are looking forward to it. It does appear to be on a westerly trek. So lets hope it doesn't decide to cut northward.

We're pretty much in the same boat, no pun intended. It's been a couple of years since we've been able to make it down and boy, are we looking forward to it. We NEED A VACATION! And, like you, we've already paid for our condo, so we're pretty much out of luck if it turns north.

We are actually leaving on Friday and spending the night in Mobile and plan on visiting the battleship and the submarine Friday afternoon time permitting and Bellingrath Gardens the next morning. We cannot be in the townhouse until 2:00 p.m.! If it does bring in rain bands to that area I hope it doesn't dirty the water. We won't be swimming in it if it is not normal looking. There have been shark sightings lately and if the water is murky they cannot be seen.
