Seaweed
Hey,
What has the seaweed been like lately? We are coming down over Labor Day and I was just wondering. |

Patchy in places... but, much less seaweed than usual.
Hopefully Dean deosn't stir up the Gulf too much. It's far enough south it shouldn't have any real effect on our water clarity or seaweed... |

Thanks, I know when we were there back in June the waves were bad (red flags) the whole week, but no seaweed.

Thanks Matt
That is a 4 lb spotted bass for Lake Logan Martin in Alabama. I have a lake house over there and spend a ton of time fishing. Saw your posts about fishing in Florida, good luck. I do a little surf fishing but have not been out deep sea. Can not wait until Labor Day weekend and another trip down Brian |

Seaweed wasnt bad this weekend, but the jellyfish were out to get you. That time of the year I guess. They got the hell out of me. Got some good pictures of them though, so its worth it!
Goodluck with the water, I hope it cooperates with your vacation |

Hey Bubba Bob, my husband and I will be in on the 25th. Hope someone can update me on Thursday as to the seaweed situation, and obviously the jelly fish situation, not to mention the shark situation. Thanks.

The jellyfish are here to stay for a while. Its just that time of the year. Just be carefull. They are pretty big and easy to spot. If one does hit you, the pain only lasts 5-10 minutes. If yall go to the kiddy pool and St Andrews, they seem to collect there when the tide is going out. Just an FYI. Dont worry about the sharks. They wont bother you. Just stay on the beach side of the second sand bar and you wont see any. Hope yall have fun! |

Well, we did indeed see some creatures near the old Camp Helen pier. 4 sharks, 3 jellyfish near the shore, and one sting ray 10 feet out. Yuck. But we still went swimming but just watched and didn't stay in the water long. Took plenty of beach walks and laid out on the beach in the morning for about an hour and again most afternoons. Water was pleasant. Very little seaweed. No problem with biting flies either. Had great weather.
