Back from an enjoyable week at Inlet Beach

We are back from our trip to Inlet Beach/PC Beach. Sure had great weather and a great time. Sunned on the beach every morning and every afternoon practically. Took two beach walks a day. Spent much time in PC Beach hitting all the beach stores, rented a scooter. Made several trips onto the Dan Russell Pier. Saw a sea turtle twice. Went over into Panama City and went to Shady Oaks Antiques, bought a couple of things since this is his last year, and the mall a couple of times. He hopes he has a buyer for Shady Oaks Antiques that will keep it open. I hope so also. Drove over into historic St. Andrews. Really nice. Got some pictures. Spent last Friday in Mobile, visited Dauphin Island and the Audubon Bird Sanctuary there. Loved it. The bird sanctuary had a wooden boardwalk that wound all the way to the beach and the gulf. Was beautiful. Went to the U.S.S. Alabama and toured it and saw the U.S.S. Drum. Had a great time there. Got worn out climbing all those ship levels. Went to Bellingrath Gardens in Theodore, AL and toured the house and gardens. Was beautiful. Will post pictures later.

I will post pictures on here tonight. Vacation couldn't have been better and was just what I needed to relax. Can't wait to come back. Husband said if we can get some money saved up, as in alot of money, we might come back in June instead the end of the summer. Hope so.

Crowds weren't bad Xi Bowhunter until the start of the long Labor Day weekend on Friday. Most of the townhouses and beach houses where we rent were filled by Friday when two years ago we were the only ones along that stretch of beach. Front Beach Rd. was getting to be bumper to bumper traffic for the long weekend, like the 4th of July. But usually that disappears after Labor Day. We took one final drive down Front Beach Rd. and Thomas Drive before hitting the road home Saturday morning and the line at Thomas' Donuts was huge. Shouldn't be any problem with any crowds now.

Got Back Yesterday

And here I sit at work today wishin' I was back at PCB. Had a great time and as Beach Nut said the weather was perfect. The water was as clear as I had seen it in a while and very calm. All meals where great with the exception of the Boatyard (I was disappointed). We ate at Boon Docks for the first time and the food was fantastic we will be back (except no fried pickles next time, yuck).

It is a liitle sad to think that summer is basically over and it will be next June before we go back, but deer season and winter bass fishin' will help ease the pain. It was a great memory for us and the kids.

Thanks to Moonspinner and PCB for another 2 great summer trips (June and September).

Brian

Me too Brian. I am sitting here at work also. My husband had to work yesterday and it Labor Day. The presses were running at his work so he had to work. The only people off at his work yesterday were the laminators. He and anyone else doing his job on the 2nd shift had to pull 12 hours. He and everyone else is on a rotation schedule. Yeah, it is supposed to be cooling off here over this next week. Was 95 yesterday but temps are supposed to drop to the mid to upper 80's which is our norm for right now. Fall is just around the corner. But Brian, next summer will be here before you know it. At least you get to come twice a year. We sometimes only get to come every other year. It was just myself and my husband. My son is 25 and married and lives 200 miles from us.

Beachnut

Sorry your husband had to work, but hopefully (the brightside) he made extra for working on the holiday.

I understand about the kid's - my daughter's are 8 and 13, so that is why we go 2 times per year because soon enough they will be gone and I am sure it will not be the same. In fact, my wife and I were talking about that on the beach as we watched the kids playing.

It is extremely hot down here (in Georgia) and the lakes are all well below there levels. I am definetly hoping for some relief soon.

Hopefully, you can make it back to PCB next year and enjoy it.

Brian

I've got a month from tomorrow before I will get to head down again. It is going to be a long month. I am even taking off a week of prime deer hunting around our place to visit PCB again. I already have my day charter planned, and my saltwater fishing tackle is packed up and ready to go. I am taking a 12 hour fishing trip out of Anderson's marina, hopefully the snapper and grouper are still biting. I have been watching the weather like a hawk because of all these hurricanes popping up here lately. I know it is a little early to be worrying about the weather, but this month long wait has me chomping at the bit! The girlfriend is hoping for warmer-than-normal temperatures for her sunbathing, and I am trying to talk her into driving to Destin on the day that I go fishing so she can do some shopping. She doesn't want to go by herself though.

Brian, I glad to hear that your meal at Boondocks was good. We're planning on going there on our next trip & it's always encouraging to read good reviews. (I'll avoid the fried pickles, which sounds weird anyway) What was disappointing about your experience at the Boatyard?

Bowhunter - I know the feeling regarding watching the weather, I did that for a month also. You and your girl have fun.

Ms. Peel - Boatyard's service was slow (granted they were busy), but it was extraordinarily slow. Plus I did not think the food was that good. The other places seemed to be fresher (maybe just the way it was cooked).

Yeah, the money will be good. He will get paid double time. Since he used vacation and did not work prior to the holiday he won't get double time and a half he doesn't think but who knows. But double time will be good. We are 16 inches below normal in rain here. Our mimosa tree died while we were gone. We didn't notice it looking that way before we left, or we would have watered it. We need some major rain bad.

Well Rys, the man said he has been in business there 28 years and is ready to do other things. He will be open still for a while. He thinks he may have it sold to someone that he hopes plans on keeping it open. My husband and I just love the banty chickens he has running around the property, they have the prettiest feather covering on their feet, and he has many turkeys and roosters. We are hoping the next person will keep it open so we can go back next time. If you are going down soon again, you might want to pop in there and buy something. We bought some stuff this time in case it isn't still there next time we are down.
