weather @ PCB october 5th-11th

If some of the PCB locals would do me a big favor:

We are heading down from KY Oct 5th and staying through the 11th. If there are any tropical storms or other weather related info you can relay to me between now and then, I would really appreciate it.

I don't know of any info as of right now but you can go to www.weatherunderground.com and they have alot of information available.
You can just type in the area code 32411 or 32408 and it will give you details pertaining to the Beach area

I think we're staying at the Ocean Towers. I don't want to jinx myself but we've been going down early October for several years now and love it! The weather is great and the crowds are non-existant.
Less than two weeks and counting...

It taxes out our budget, but we scrimp and save all year and save up the vacation days. In the end the 2 weeks is AWESOME. We do a rent a condo through the owner deal and eat a lot of meals in, which saves even MORE money. And we split the cost with my folks, so realy we only pay for 1 week and get 2 out of it. Of course the whole year working without a break leading up to vacation time is tiresome, but WELL worth it.

Red tide?

We are heading down Oct 6 as well, staying at the Shores of Panama until Oct 10. I've been reading on Mr. Surf's site that the red tide is currently present and causes respiratory problems so I'm a little nervous about that with my kids. Also, there could be some weather brewing, so we all better cross our fingers.

Yeah, it looks like Red Tide is here. But in much smaller amounts than recent years. But, don't let it dampen your trip... it may be gone by this weekend. Or if it's still around, you can still find areas that are unaffected.

Red Tide causes discomfort in some people, but not all. My friends and I have swam and skiied in Grand Lagoon and the Gulf when Red Tide was heavy and never had any noticable affects. Other people start getting itchy eyes and throats if they get anywhere near water with Red Tide.

Don't even mention storms. Tropical storms have been permanantly banned from the panhandle of Florida.

PS Here's an article on the recent Red Tide.
PSS Welcome to the forums! Hope your PCB trip goes well!

Good news! WJHG reported last night that several water samples form the area tested negative for Red Tide. So, either it has already dissipated, moved to another area or it never existed.

Oh I love the Shores of Panama!! Their pool is sooo awesome! It is mostly shallow(nothing over 5ft) but who cares...it is the best. You will love it! Have fun!!!
