Coming Soon - Pier Park!

By Amy Mann

I have to admit that I’m a shopper at heart. My friends kid me about my closet full of Jimmy Choos, and my beloved funky jewelry collection. So, naturally, I’m looking forward to the next phase of openings at Pier Park this spring. This past summer, we really started to get a feel for what the Simon Group has planned for this "signature project" – the first shops opened, the movie house opened (awesome, spectacular digital screens like I’ve never seen!)...and they hosted successful outdoor concerts.

In the spring of this year, Pier Park will be opening two of is anchor stores: Dillard’s and JC Penny. Along with these two department stores are Border’s Books & Music, The Fresh Market, Old Navy, Ron Jon Surf Shop, Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville and...well, just think what you can do with 1.1 million square feet of open-air lifestyle space and, then...in the Fall, they have plans to add another 50,000 square feet of retail!

I've been to the one in Orlando a few times...the wifey loves Jimmy Buffet. Bad taste in music AND men. Go figure.

We needed some photos of Pier Park so I made a quick drive by and took a handful of photos. Check 'em out here:

Pier Park Photos in our Panama City Beach Photo Gallery

They've come a long way in the last few months. Target, The Grand Theater, Longhorn and Panera Bread have been open for a while (and some smaller businesses like Alltel store, etc)

The rest are currently under construction and going up FAST!!! Most of Pier Park will be open for business by Spring 2008!

Opening soon:

Dillards
JCPenny
Margaritaville
Old Navy
Red Brick Pizza
Kilwin's Ice Cream
The Back Porch Seafood House & Oyster Bar
Reggae J's Island Grill
Journeys
Victorias Secret
Ruby Tuesday
Barnes & Noble
Ron Jon Surf Shop
Pet Smart
Office Depot
Sports Authority
Borders Books & Music
Carlyle & Co
GameStop
Five Guys Famous Burgers & Fries
Rocky's South Philly Cheesesteaks
Cache (clothing)

... and lots more!

List subject to change (daily, it seems!)

Barnes and Noble? That's good. I haven't been here THAT long...but I'm pretty sure there aren't any around.

Borders just doesn't compare.

You're welcome!

It's gonna be a pretty big deal for this area. Similar complexes in Destin stay packed (Destin Commons, Silver Sands OUtlet, etc) We're all looking forward to it. I just hope they mix in a few local or specialized businesses... I would hate to see it all franchise companies and chain restaurants. I doubt the rent is affordable enough for local business, though.

Anyway, check out PCBDaily.com. Jason has taken lots of photos and video of Pier Park. Good stuff.

I'd heard something about that too...but, the Magic Google Machine doesn't seem to have any knowledge of it.

Must mean it's not true. Google is all-knowing.
