club la vela...
...now has a very strict dress code.
shirts can't be too long. can't tuck in shirts that are too long. can't wear hats. can't wear hoodies. can't wear jerseys. can't wear baggy pants. can't come as a group wearing the same shirt (gang related?) so, if you dress like you're from the hood. don't bother coming, pretty much. it's stupid, i think. they've turned down a lot of business with this. discuss? |

hats are one thing, but the others I don't mind. It actually makes people dress decent when they go to a club, and not like they are about to shoot someone or they came from the back ally.

sounds good...
i'm a regular there, and although i don't dress that way, a lot of people i know does. so if your friends and yourself have an evening planned to go out there, and one of them can't get in, it kinda deters the rest of the group going in. every night i've been there so far, it's been a big issue in the parking lot. i've heard people saying "i won't be coming back" and much more along the lines. i mean i understand having a dress code and all, but at this point it seems ridiculous. i hope it's really just a phase, since i noticed they did that in the winter months last year too. i've always said la vela was a much more slack club, and that's what made it great...i've been to a lot of bars/clubs around the country, and some even required a membership at which to get in...and to even get the membership you had to buy it at an outrageous price and come in on an abstract day to get it. weird i say. |

They surely want the guys to at least pull their pants up!
Nothing wrong with khaki shorts and tshirt/polo. |

Well, if the people generally dressing this way are the ones causing trouble, then I don't blame them a bit. Obviously they have been having some trouble, or they wouldn't have enforced this dress code. If people would act right and not cause trouble/fights, then this wouldn't even be an issue. You have GOT to realize that a lot of these "Thug" types are notorious for causing a lot of the trouble in these type places. I have only been to La Vela a handful of times, and if you can't wear hats i won't be allowed in there, because I only take mine off for church!

I guess they want to make sure there is nothing to do with a gang symbol which can happen, as wearing a hat backwards or sideways, sagging pants, sloppy dressing...etc. I think it's good they have some sort of standard...but what about the girls in their bikinis? LOL
