Dr. Beach announced his best beaches in America picks last week, giving the nod to St. Joseph Peninsula State Park... but don't forget, PCB's own St. Andrews State Park, winner in 1995 won't be eligible to win again until 2005.

St. Joseph State Park is an incredibly beautiful, undeveloped, and remote beach perfect for getting away from it all... 'course, if you enjoy great restaurants, exciting attractions, variety in accommodations, and other people, you still can't go wrong with the beaches of Panama City Beach - including St. Andrews!

The winner for 1994, incidently, was Grayton Beach State Recreation Area immediately to the west of PCB... hmmm, I'm seeing a pattern here...

Grayton Beach park is just about my favorite place along the coast. I can understand why it would have been picked as the best beach. Some people think the National SEashore over in Pensacola is better. Not me. The surf isn't so rough and the dunes are just as impressive.

I've got mixed emotions about NW florida's beaches gettting all this attention. Sure they deserve it. But now even MORE people will want to move in! I know, that's just what I did. You know the old saw- close the door AFTER I get in!
