July 4th

I am going to be in PCB for the 4th and wondered if there are any good bands going to be playing then. Also for the fireworks show is there any 1 good place to watch it or just anywhere on the beach a good place.

Hey Sthrnman, welcome to the forums! There are a few concerts planned - Club La Vela is bringing in three bands including Southern Rock favorites Confederate Railroad, Elmira Gulch, and Splendid Chaos... Spinnaker Beach Club is having Noah's Rain, their most-requested band.

You'll be able to catch fireworks at either Dan Russell Pier (City Pier) on PCB across from Aaron Bessant Park or in PC at the City Marina (at the foot of Harrison Ave). Both shows are expected to be very good and both will be over the water, which is just awesome.

More 4th of July Info here...

If you're watching Panama City Beach's fireworks, I'd find a place along the beach... but you'd better get there early. They're planning on firing them off just after dusk...

In town, anywhere on the Marina's pier is good, or to the west along Beach Drive, or to the east along Cherry street. Same on timing, I'd get there before 8pm. The crowds are usually large...

If you have a boat, or access to one, get out on the water early and get the best view in town...

Downtown Panama City is having a full two days of fun for the Fourth... at McKenzie Park there will be kid's activities, food vendors, arts & crafts - even a petting zoo!

The party moves down a few blocks to the Marina at 3pm, with live music and even more food!

So bring the whole family!

The newest info on the Indepedence Day celebration in PC has the 1st Fighter Squadron from Tyndall AFB bringing in four F-15s for a flyby over the Celebration at 6:45pm.

Locals are familiar with the sleek, fast-moving fighters that overfly the city daily. What should be unusual is the tight formation and low altitudes of the planes.

Speaking of Tyndall, the base is hosting it's 17th annual Heritage Day Celebration Wednesday. Held at Tyndall's Heritage Park there will be live music, food, game booths and, of course, fireworks. Gates open at 3pm. Entrance will be through Illinois Gate... just follow the signs off Hwy 98.

Thanks for the heads-up. I always enjoy an air show even if its just a short flyby!

Good hearing from you Ed, I thought you might enjoy the flyby! Downtown's gearing up for today's start to the Fourth's festivities. If you're coming to the Beach from Hwy 231, take a left at Harrison where it intersects with 231 and go about eight blocks. It's a good street party atmosphere with plenty for the whole family to enjoy...
