Maybe some locals can help
My daughter is getting married in PCB in August. We've been coming there for vacations since all my kids were small. Even though we've spent a good amount on a wedding coordinator there, seems it's our responsibility to find the place to hold the ceremony on the beach. Seems kind of crazy to me, since we're the ones a thousand miles away, but what do I know. Anyone have any suggestions on where to start. Also looking for somewhere on the beach just to have a small get together afterward for some hors doeuvres and drinks for about 50 people. The actual full blown reception is going to be when they get back home, but they want to do something small for the people that have come down to be at the actual ceremony. Could be somewhere we rent and furnish our own or somewhere they would have a heavy hor doeuvre buffet or something of that nature. Maybe even a charter boat that would accommodate that many people. Open to all suggestions. Thanks for any input in advance.

Hi greneyes! Welcome to the forums!
There are some good wedding suggestions for PCB on this page: Destination Weddings - Destin, FL I'm not sure what the regulatons are with weddings on the beach... if there are any... but if you just want to pick a spot on the beach, try Rick Seltzer Park. You'll have parking, bathrooms, walkways, etc for your guests. OR you might try contacting Spinnaker Beach Club... they do wedding ceremonies and receptions. I highly recommend them - you can even see photos of a wedding in the "Private Parties" section of their website. Schooners is another restaurant on the beach where you can have the ceremony and the hors d'oeuvres. One or more of the hotels from By the Sea Resorts also performs wedding ceremonies. I think they have a really nice gazebo on the beach where they take place. Boatyard Restaurant can also help with providing a mini-reception afterward. And, there's even a company in town that can webcast your wedding back to your relatives and friends all over the world. Good luck. Let us know if you find any other good spots! And pls share the wedding pics if you can! Last edited by swn5363; May-11th,2009 at 06:24 PM. |

I was actually just out at Beachcomber By the Sea for a wedding reception this weekend. The couple held it in front of the gazebo which is practically right on the beach. It looked like a great spot for a ceremony and it was definitely a great spot for this reception.
The couple got married at Eden Garden State Park...which is basically an old plantation house surrounded by an awesome park. It was a little warm...but you really couldn't ask for a nicer setting. My wife and I got married a couple of years ago on the beach...Mexico Beach, behind Toucan's, and if I was more involved in the planning I could tell you all about the restrictions involved in that sort of thing. As far as I know...there were none. I think we just cleared the day with the city and that was that. There was certainly no expense involved and I don't recall any paperwork or anything. Hope this helps! |
