Breakfast Point Fire
If you were one of the unlucky travelers stuck in traffic Thursday evening... here's why:
St. Joe's 925-acre prescribed burn at Breakfast Point (beind the new Publix on Back Beach) got out of control as a storm approached and shifted winds 180 degrees. Part of Back Beach was shut down for about an hour until the smoke cleared. According to news reports, traffic was backed up on HWY 98 four or five miles... all the way to Harrison Avenue. This is the view from our office on Front Beach... the fire was about a mile and a half away from us.
