Apalachicola Oysters!

Don't let the oil spill in keep you from enjoying Apalachicola oysters!

The spill hasn't come anywhere near the Apalach Bay and they are monitoring water qualty closely to ensure everyone's safety.

Read this article for more info:
Let the Summer Harvesting Begin! - Panama City Beach, FL

We've been enjoying more oysters than usual just in case they do need to halt harvesting for a while... and I've got to say - we had a few dozen raw on the half shell at Dee's Hangout that were absolutely delicious.... best I've had in years! Also had some good raw oysters at Bayou on the Beach. Can't wait to get some more this week!

Ridge is on a distinguished road
Nice article! I was just about to ask how this mess has impacted the local industry. I lived in the northwest near fishing villages many years ago and we never had to worry about these things. Great restaurants demand a fresh catch and the fishing industry has always provided. It's not an easy job! There are just so many factors that you have little or no control over. Again, selfish motives aside, we constantly hope and pray that this will soon pass for EVERYONE and that the beauty we have been blessed with will be sustained or restored as the case may be. Also, thanks for the heads up on Dee's and the Bayou. Always looking for places to eat and pass along to friends!
