1890 Starters began the Ironaman Florida Triathalon and there were 1773 official finishers in a race where the weather was a major player. It was sunny and then it rained........then sunny.......then rain!

When it was all said and done, Jason Shortis from Queensland, Austrailia who finally won his first Ironman Triathalon here in Panama City with a time of 08:27:44. After three 2nd place finishes, Shortis finally put it all together and came out a winner.

Twenty-five year old Bella Comerford of Scotland was the first woman across the finish line with a time of 09:36:33.
