Vacation plans and what to do?
First off, I DO NOT want to cancel our trip to PCB in September. I know there is just no-way to tell for sure what is going to happen, but this site has been so good to me, I KNOW I can turn here for at the very least some good, sound advice.
We've got our week booked, and deposit made for our stay at the Watercrest on the 2nd week of September. We have 3 weeks to cancel and get our deposit back. But what I sould do at this point, I really don't know. Oil on the beach would ruin our trip, I just know it, but I am not really wanting to go anywhere but PCB. If I wait too long, I lose my deposit, but if I cancel now, I might make a mistake and lose a good deal at the place I really want to be on my vacation. any suggestions?

I've got the same problem. Our vacation week is the 28th of August through the 4th of September. I am holding out with a wait and see attitude. We rent from a private owner and have paid the deposit but he already told me if oil were down there he would not want anyone being subjected to breathing the odor as it is not healthy. I'm trying to think of alternatives like Myrtle Beach but my husband is not keen on that idea, not the emerald green water of the gulf, but they have a lot of the same things to do there that we like to do at PC Beach. A co-worker of mine just went to the beach this week, but went farther down the gulf to St. Pete Beach instead of Destin where they were going to go. Way longer drive but I'm sure they enjoyed it. I won't lose our deposit no matter when we cancel though. I'd wait it out a few weeks longer.
