PCB in August

Hi guys,

I'll be in the Altanta area for a couple weeks in August. On weekends I'm planning to go to the beaches close to this area.

Would you recommend to go down to PCB at this time? I'll combine great beaches, weather and nightlife!! Or would recommend other places?

Thanks,
Marei

Ummm..., Marei, you're on a PCB forum. Of course we think PCB rocks! There is no better place to go for beaches, weather and nightlife. Check this out:

I know that PCB rocks...no doubt about it! I've been there a few years ago during Spring Break:-)

I'm just a bit worried that due to the oil spill some people stay away from PCB and choose other options!

So, I really hope some folks are in town in August!!

When in August do you plan on being in town? Where we stay every year was packed last year at the end of August. We were at the west end of the beach and believe me there are plenty of vacationers there in August.

I think you will find it busy enough at that time. I would not call the place empty of tourists by any means. Still plenty of warm weather to enjoy the water.

I will down during the first week of August and didn't see much listed for events during that week. Does anyone know of any events happening from July 31st-August 7?

One place that is always packed during that last week of August is the Sandpiper Beacon Resort. I'd say that place is packed the entire summer. That place is a gold mine for Panama City Beach. And that's because they have so much on site for children to do.

Just returned from PCB and it was wonderful. NO OIL in sight, even went deepsea fishing and never saw any sign of oil. It is a shame that the media is not reporting how good the beaches are in PCB. I could tell that the amount of visitors is down from previous years.

Glad you had a great time tigertwo! I hear the fishing is off the hook right now. Take any photos of your catch?

I agree about the national media... they have no clue... they just want a story.

The media likes to cause chaos and panic. They are such a-holes. Don't get me started.

I was there from July 17-24. I agree that it was beautiful and we didn't see a hint of oil, but we noticed larger numbers of visitors than the same time in 2008 and 2009. The beaches were somewhat more crowded and there were many swimmers in the gulf.

Enjoyed our stay at Edgewater the week of July 18th-25th and would like everyone to know about Val's Beach Condo rental. We are repeat customers and enjoy dealing with them and have never had a bad experience with them.

Most of my family lives in the Baltimore/DC area and they all say the beaches are screwed because that's what they hear on their local media and of course the national media as well. Funny how the federal government can clamp down on so many trivial things but at the same time let these bull-s#*t artist say and print all this crap without any proof.

My husband and I still plan on being down the end of August. So far so good as for the oil staying away. I hate it is all hanging over Louisiana, now with the second oil cap hit in the Bay, spewing natural gas and oil, now there is double to clean up. What a mess. Not wishing it on any other area as it has already affected other areas, was just hoping it would stay away from where we are going so we can get our trip in.
