We are staying in PC next week for 2 weeks and was wondering how does Destin compare? Is it worth a day trip to check out Destin? I'm assuming it is a very similar beach town.

Destin is a whole lot nicer than PCB, it's definitely worth the trip. You'll probably end up wishing you had spent your vacation there, instead.

Definitely worth a trip to Destin. If you go, check out the Silver Sands Outlet Mall, Destin Commons, McGuire's Irish Pub (awesome food! great local brewed beer), Village of Baytowne Wharf (inside Sandestin Resort), HarborWalk Village and AJ's.

Another cool daytrip is HWY 30A between Destin and Panama City Beach. The communities of Grayton Beach, Seaside, Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, Seacrest and several others. Wonderful area... lots of great restaurants and boutique shops. Try Cafe 30A or Bud and Alley's for great seafood.

You won't be disappointed with PCB, though. The difference between PCB and Destin isn't as great as it was years ago. PCB has grown up quite nicely. While you're in PCB, check out Schooners, Boatyard, Pier Park, Boon Docks, Capt's Table and Liza's Kitchen (awesome weekend brunch!)

I am not sure about the comment that Destin is a lot nicer than Panama City Beach. The traffic and congestion in Destin is really bad. At least with PCB there are 3 main arteries now Back Beach, Middle Beach, and Front Beach Roads. Pier Park is great.

Nothing against Destin but PCB has a cooler vibe IMHO.
