Any Info

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had any info for us first time spring breakers.
We are 18 and from Canada.
What is up with the wristband thing I keep hearing about from Days Inn?
We are going to be there Feb 28 - Mar 6 with Breakaway Tours. Anyone else going to be there then??

Any useful info would be great.
You can post here or email me at michelle_howe@hotmail.com

Wrist Band

Well from what I have seen a lot of condo's/hotels offer the wrist bands as a method of identification. This way security is not such a hassle if you are a resident of the hotel.

OK, here's the deal with the wristbands. When you check into your hotel you will get a wristband. Every hotel down there has security patrolling them. After a certain hour, if you don't have a wristband on, they will not let you into the hotel. Pretty much every hotel has this system. The only thing that varies is how much they enforce it. Most of the bigger hotels have security sitting at every entrance making sure you have a wristband. Other hotels don't really enforce it. I've stayed at the Chateau the past two years and I haven't even worn my wristband. The wristband thing isn't a huge deal, it just kinda sucks not being able to invite anyone to your room.

By the way, I'll be staying at the Chateau that same week, so if you need any more info you can hit me up at STEVE_4078@hotmail.com

Arm Band

I know one of the resorts I stayed at gave me extra bands on request, you may want to check that out. Hope it all works out for you and that you enjoy your first spring break here.

Extra bands?

Just curious which resort?

I know most are extremely strict about that.

Yeah,
I was wondering that too. I know usually when you lose your wristband or something, they charge you a ton of money to get another one. I've never heard of anyone giving you wristbands for free.

It was Edge Water

They gave me us 3 extra wrist bands for our "non registered" guests. This was not during spring break though. I don't know what they are strict about other than if you do not have a wrist band you must be escorted by the hotel resident to the room. I do not know how much they charge if you lose them, because I turned them back in. This was the case at Edgewater Beach Resort.

Reason for wristbands

The only reason for the wristbands is money and to a lesser extent the law. Florida law only allows a certain number of guests in rooms, depending on number of beds.

But the truth is more along the lines of 12 people staying in a room and only paying for 4. Basically the hotel/condo is losing revenue for the others that are staying for "free". That's why the cutoff at certain hours, fines for "losing" and replaicing a wirstband you gave to a friend, etc.

The other reason is so that Security knows you belong on the property. If the person is not wearing a wristband for the property, they could be there to steal all the things you brought with you.

Yes, security at some places is less stringent than others (I worked security last year and will again this year). It's basically up to the property as to how tight they want it to be.

Yea just bring them into the room with you. lol. They most I've ever been charged for extra wristbands was $10 and that was at the Boardwalk Condominiums. Just tell them you lost yours.

Its not that big of a deal really, at least not as big of a deal as everyone else is making it out to be.
