Best way to get there.

What is the best way to get to PCB coming from west on I-10? I heard that going the Destin Fort Walton route will be really really slow with traffic and construction.

Yes. Construction on HWY 98 has slowed down traffic... plus traffic in Destin is pretty bad (especially downtown).

I would suggest taking I-10 all the way to HWY 79 South, then take 79 all the way to Back Beach Rd or Front Beach Rd.

Check our Panama City Spring Break Party Map for details.

Did something get added?

Hey I downloaded that map a few weeks ago and now I cant find it. But you state that the size is roughly 700kb.. However my system is showing it is more like 7MB which makes a difference for those who have slower connections. I definitly dont have that problem but maybe others need to be notified.

Try it again and let me know if you have any problems... should be 649kb exactly.

That did the trick

Its exactly 649kb now.. A hell of alot faster than looking at 7mb. Easier to print too! And Im on a OC-48 line (2.4gb/s).

Thumbs up Great!

This is not shown on our map, but if you have good navigational skills, you can take I-10 to HWY 331 South, then to HWY 20 East, then to HWY 79 South and save about 20-30 minutes compared to just taking I-10 to 79.

I'd suggest picking ip a Florida Road Map, or maybe route it thru Yahoo Maps or Mapquest.

Good Luck!

coming from the north?

we mapped our trip out (coming from detroit), and it looks like we're routed on 231 right onto 98 in PCB... I'm guessing this route will be packed... can anyone suggest any alternate routes?

Any HWY that takes you to HWY 79 would probably be a good idea... I've seen traffic coming onto town backed up for MILES at a standstill. Hours of sitting in traffic on HWY 98 (usually before the Hathaway Bridge).

If you are heading down 231, you can take HWY 20 West to HWY 79 South (I think there is an overhead sign just before the 231/20 intersection that says "TO West End of Panama City Beach" or something like that). This route is probably a little more distance, but could save you HOURS of sitting in traffic.

The past 4 years I've taken 231 to 98 and I've never had a problem with traffic. I guess it probably depends on when you get there. The only problem I've had is last year they were tearing apart 98 before you get to Front Beach Rd, so that slowed us down a little bit. Is there still construction on 98 or is it clear?

Still LOTS of construction on and around Hathaway Bridge on HWY 98. Any of the busier weeks (3 weeks or so in March) I can almost guarantee it will bottleneck traffic to a standstill on Fridays and Saturdays when everyone is arriving in town.

Traffic won't be bad at 8am... it's usually Friday afternoon when it starts getting bad... and most of the day Saturday.

I had planned on leaving Indiana about 10pm that friday night to get a bite to eat and wait for check in Saturday at the Boardwalk. What time do you think the line will start to form Jason?
