Petition to keep La Vela
Does someone want to start a petition to get La Vela not to move? I doubt it would work, but worth a try. I've never done it, so if someone has, let me know of a good site to start one.

You can have everybody in PCB sign a petition and it's not going to affect a mega-million dollar deal like this one bit.
If you were making a deal that would put millions in your pocket, would you care about a petition, or would you just cut the best deal you can with the timing that works for the deal? |

Multi Million dollar deal or not, the longer they keep that property the more money its going to fetch in the long run. If they decided not to sell right now and then in 5 years decided that they wanted to, do you really think there are going to be no offers. Hes gonna get more for that property the longer he holds on to it.

That is true. And bar and club owners are notorious for cutting deals to sell, partner, etc. then changing their mind or looking for ways to back out.
Here's why I think they are stupid to sell: They should capitalize on the name and get financing to build their own condo project called La Vela. Put the "new upscale" La Vela ultra lounge on the top floor and go after the kind of hip, $$$$$ people that the new condo at The Palms Las Vegas is going after. (This stuff has been done before ... a number of hotels in Las Vegas now have top floor clubs. They have seperate elevators, etc. and it doesn't disturb the guests at all). Maybe even put the ultra lounge on top of the place, and a dance club on beach level somewhere. Kind of like Rain and Ghostbar at The Palms in Las Vegas. Two different vibes. With the clubs, a couple of great restaurants, and other upscale ammenities, these condos would be IT for the gulf coast of Florida. Everybody assumes that condo buyers are a bunch of 50-60 year olds. And they might be. But plenty 25-55 crowd with cash that wants something unique and hip. Maybe I should be consulting on this new condo project ... (seriously). Last edited by tedinvegas; April-30th,2005 at 09:34 PM. |

Sounds to me like you should definitely look into that! If the owners of La Vela were as smart as they think they are, they'd have already considered something to that effect. However, isn't the owner into real estate investments, or something. I think he's a real estate salesman....oh well. I guess he can do whatever he wants, at least they're gonna rebuild La Vela instead of just ending it where it is now you know!
