Quick Question
Hi,
I have read most of the posts here and I see that alot of you have been to spring break before...I have been all over the world...Rio,Ibiza, Amsterdam, Praha, etc.. but I never have actually went to a spring break destination so I'm not sure where should I go this march. I know that basically everywhere its going to be hot but I would appreciate your honest opinions on these choices, tell me where you would go and why based on your past experience: 1. Cancun 2. Panama City Beach, FL 3. South Beach, FL 4. Acapulco 5. South Padre Island |

Thanks so much for the reply.... money is not really a factor... i mean, it looks like acapulco will cost me about $300 more in a plane ticket which is fine but but I would love to know...why should i chose acapulco over the others (other then the obvious which is that im out of the country and the weather is perfect)? if you could give me more input I would greatly appreciate it...
as far as cancun, i heard great things about it and i read alot on this forum about it but my instinct tells me that with hurricane wilma wrecking the place only a couple months ago, even if all clubs and hotels are back 100%, most people will decide to go elsewhere this year....for some reason i think that all the adveritising that i have seen for cancun 2006 is false advertising...if this was 2005, CAncun would be my #1 choice but I am thinking now that perhaps Acapulco or PCB might be a better choice. |

I was going to go to Acapulco or on a cruise, but then I was like...PCB is too much fun to pass up. It's way cheaper, and it's an insane amount of fun/debauchery. Cancun seems to draw in the younger crowds, whereas Acapulco draws in the 21+. (that's why I said Acapulco.)
Cancun could turn out to be a poor choice this year since Wilma hit. I don't know a single person from my school going to Cancun. Everyone is either going to the Dominican, on a cruise, or to somewhere in FL. It's too much money and fun to risk going to Cancun if you can easily just go somewhere else. So...I say Acapulco if you're feeling Mexico. But, don't count PCB out, it's sick. Also, I heard that South Beach is way too ritzy & not a big SB destination yet. I don't know anything about South Padre. |

Whadup Vodka,
Here's the deal, I've been to all of those places for spring break except for PCB, so that's where I'm headed this year. Cancun is by far the best place for spring break or any other time, except for this year. I say go with your instincts. I have connections at all the marriotts and Sheraton hotel in Cancun and those hotels won't be up and running until May/June. All the Palace resorts, which are all-inclusive resorts are gonna be down until like December (or at least the two on the strip). Plus I believe Laboom, which is the tightest club there will be closed as well. There are usually a ton of people going down there from my school, but this year, there are hardly none. I'm sure it'll be fun, but my suggestion is to wait until next year so that you can get the true Cancun experience. Acapulco is a great party, but quite simply, you can't even move around in the clubs. I mean it is way too crowded to dance and have a good time and almost impossible to get to the bar. Last year, we had to wait an hour and a half to get a couple of beers. Also, it's really close to Mexico City and on the weekends, there are like a million Mexicans that come down there and it is way to packed. I'm not racist, it's just too damn crowded to have fun in my opinion. The police are jerks and so are the bar tenders. If you don't have a lot of money to show them, they pretty much treat you like crap. Plus, it's really not all that pretty. Just my opinion. South Beach is off the chain, but really not a spring break place. It's really expensive on all ends and it's an older crowd. But if you want to meet some beautiful people, that's the place you need to be. I went there last year too for spring break (i had two weeks ). It was fun, but not real wild and crazy. It's more for the "grown and sexy". Go there for like a weekend with your buddies or something.I didn't like South Padre Island at all. It's dirty, and unless you just stay drunk the ENTIRE time, you'll be bored. I would reccommend SPA for someone who is just broke and want to have a good time. These are just my opinions, so I hope they are helpful. I'm like you dude, I travel all over the world. I'm from Chi-town but I'm in New Zealand right now, so I know how to party and how to rate places. If you ever get a chance, go to Turanga, New Zealand. But as for spring break, come on down to PCB this year and party with us. |

I haven't been to all those places. I have been to Cancun, PCB, and South Beach.
I went to Cancun last year on spring break and had a great time. It's definitely a different experience than PCB. It is a younger crowd and the atmosphere is just different there. Most people are only concerned with gettin some down there it seems like. In PCB, it seems like people are there to party, where as in Cancun, everyone wants to hook up. There's nothin' wrong with that I guess, but I don't need to go on spring break to hook up. I go for the party. It is paradise down there though. The weather is unbelievable and it's alot of fun. However, I went to Cancun in December and it was a disaster area. Everything was up and running, but it was a mess. Clubs had holes in the roofs covered with tarps. Hotels were all beat up, and there was construction everywhere. It wasn't the same. If it was my first trip there, it would have left a bad taste in my mouth. PCB is alot of fun. I've been there 4 times. It's just a nonstop party. People party until the sun comes up every night. The only setback is the weather. In March, you never know what you're gonna get. I've been there when it has been 80 and sunny everyday, and I've been there when it has snowed. That sucked. If good weather is a huge priority, PCB is not your choice. I went to South Beach once but not on spring break. It's a pretty cool place, but it doesn't seem like a good place for spring break to me. I know alot of people go there, but everything is so expensive and inconvenient. All the cool clubs cost a fortune, and hard to get into. Everything is very expensive it seems like. Don't get me wrong, South Beach is fun, but I wouldn't go there on spring break. |

STEVE-O, your feedback is definitly appreciated... I'm definitly writing cancun out of the choice list for this year, if I go there I want it to be 100%, I am hoping for the best weather in PCB
