Saint Andrew's Park
Hey, I'm coming down March 4th-8th and my friend and I are having to stay at St. Andrew's State Park. It's all the way on the west end of PCB. Having never been to PCB for Spring Break before, what would be the best way to get down to the clubs, parties, etc?
I will have my car with me - is there any parking down that way? I've heard mention of shuttle services that go from hotel to hotel. Is this confirmed for this year and do we know what hotels it'll stop at? If so I could just get myself to the hotel and try to get on the shuttle there. Thanks. |

I stayed with a group of 8 last year at St. Andrew's State Park. Only $24 per night is easily the best deal in PCB, as long as you don't mind camping. The park is located at the end of the strip, a good 2 or 3 miles from where everything fun goes on. During the day you can park your car at Club La Vila for free, which is nice because it is very close to where MTV sets up its stage, where most people go during the day. I'm not real sure about the shuttle service, we didn't use that last year.
Anyways, as long as you have your car there you shouldn't have a problem getting around. With the money you've saved from camping, you should be able to get nice and plastered at the clubs at night... Don't worry, you'll be fine. |

Rob: Unless I'm going nuts, the park is actually on the east end, not the west... having stayed on the far west end in 2002 (at the Beachcomber) and the east end in 2003 (Top of the Gulf), you're better off where you're at.
Don't know if it matters to you or not, but the park seems like a pretty nice place. Boring as hell when you're in the mood for a party, but you can catch a boat out to Shell Island some morning when you're hung over... nice, peaceful place. |

Hey rogben, nice to see you back in the forums? When can we expect more great entries in your travel journal? I advise everyone to check it out... good stuff: Rogben's Spring Break Journal
I like this part: "serendipity: (noun) what you get when you're trying to take a picture of a hot girl and an even hotter girl sticks her *** in the lens ![]() It's pretty amazing, the way tastes evolve. Ten years ago, if you had asked me to name two highly attractive parts of a woman's body, I wouldn't have included "abdomen" or "lower back" in the list. Now I'm fascinated by both. Apparently, the lesson is: "work it out, show it off, and it will eventually become 'hot'." |

Assuming I don't get myself in trouble, of course. Toward the end of our 03 trip, two dudes wearing Spinnaker staff shirts make a bee-line for me out on the beach. (I'm a fairly big guy, so I guess they figured a tag-team was called for.) "Who are you with?" they asked. "Um... my wife?" I responded, a bit uncertainly. They pointed to my semi-pro Canon camcorder. "That's not a normal camera. Who are you with?" "I'm not with anyone," I said. "I'm here on vacation." "Yeah, well. This is a private beach, and you need to leave. Don't come back." "Oh... kay." I walked away, scratching my head. I need to come up with a way to explain that I'm a (mostly) harmless blogger, not a GGW employee or whatever they were assuming. Does Tripsmarter need any roving beach correspondents this year?

Good luck with the car at night
I will be coming by boat and checked the park website. It says the park is closed from dusk on, probably a gate. Also there are no intoxicants allowed so watch out if youve got beer or other in the park. State parks can be strict and Im sure they be on the lookout during SB.
