Construction

Road Construction..........whats the word on this in pcb? I know in the years past they have always been working on that bridge and I remember sittingin line for hours to get to the beach. Last year we took someones advice and took the short cut to pcb by turning off in Troy instead of going thru Dothan. That brought us to pcb from the west side and for the first time never had to wait in traffic and had no problems at all. Prolly gonna come that way again but we have some other groups coming with us that are going thru Dothan so just wondering if someone from down there could give some info on any construction like swn or gomer.

I'd stick to that same route going through Troy. AL167 turns into FL79. You gain at least a half hour, usually closer to an hour.

The bridge is done, but they are working on an overpass so there is still alot of traffic at the bridge.

Other than that there is local road construction at Front Beach and Middle Beach (right at the McDonalds and Walmart).

Back Beach Has some construction at Beckrich (Home Depot), it's single lane each direction for a couple of miles.

Hey I looked at your route where you turn off onto 87 by Troy, AL - then take 167 to 79 to come in on from the west of PCB. It seems like you go through alot of small towns and it wouldnt be that fast. Is there alot of traffic in Panama City that makes taking the interstate way that much longer?

Last year was the first year that we took FLA79 into pcb and it went alot better than the 2 years before. Traffic was horrible when we came the other way thru Dothan when we got into panama city. It literally took us atleast 2 hours to move prolly 5 miles to get into pcb. You see alot of police the other way also and the small towns arent really a big deal, the traffic isnt bad at all and you can easily speed. Plus once u get into pcb there is no waiting for hours in traffic.
