Well...
I've been through many Spring Breaks in PCB, and I can honestly say that... although MTV concerts bring a certain level of excitement to Spring Break, the absence of MTV has never affected Spring Break negatively. There will still be just as many ppl here and just as many parties. Trust me!

But what about behind the Summit? Last year it seemed like the only booths and excitement behind there was MTVu's. I've already booked at the summit so theres nothing I can really do, but I'm hoping stuff will still be set up out there.

Well me and 10 other close friends, not to mention the other 1000+ have already committed close to $3000 on the assumption that you would be there......... Please let me know what is going on...... Thank you Joe" Here is there e-mail (mtvi-admin@mtvn.com) I will be send a ton more in the coming weeks............ This is a rip off |

while that is bad news, you all need to understand something, Mtv does NOT make PCB for spring break! I have been to pcb with and with out mtv, not much of a difference!! You will still have one of the wildest spring break times of your life!! Enjoy

I agree that Srpring Break is still wild with out them........ They are only there for 2 weeks anyway. I am a little angry that now I am reading that sponcers are pulling out and not getting space behind the super clubs to set up for promotional events.
However, I am still going.... The party I am setting up behind the Boardwalk Beach resort will still be going on!!!!!!!!! and I am still going to get wild and crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still send your e-mails and let MTVu know that they have said they will be there for the past 5 months and that it is not right for them to back out after 1000's of people have booked there spring breaks to PCB.

They can't just back out less than 2 months before Spring Break. I sent them all e-mails and will continue to do so every week! I'm going to post flyers all over the FSU campus getting other people to do the same!

mtv is fun cause they set up shows and what not, but even without them, the same people will be there, just doing other ****. Last year the concerts were kind of lame anyway. The all-american rejects took an hour to sound check and still sucked. Spring breaks whatever you make it, not what mtv makes it.

I think there is something everyone is forgetting. They passed a law that you have to have a passport to leave the country (Canada, the Caribbean and Mexico included). So all of the last minute people can't just go out of the country without a passport, plus some people will say "forget that I'm not getting a passport it costs $97". I'll bet the SB population will be up in PCB this year. And by last minute I mean people booking rooms a month to two weeks prior.

Here is the conversation I had with MTVu:
Hi Joe, I appreciate your concern. We'd love to be everywhere college students are for Spring Break, but with limited resources, it's just not possible. With booking concerts, setting up shoots, flying crews in and out...we can only afford to have one outpost. I don't know, we could return to Panama City or another domestic location next year, but it's not in the cards for 07. I'm sure there will still be plenty of festivities in PCB. I hope you enjoy your break. Best, -Jason From: joe Sent: Tuesday, January 30, 2007 4:28 PM To: Rzepka, Jason Subject: RE: Spring Break 2007 Jason, I appreciate your response. People like me can afford to go to places like Cancun and Nigril; however there are thousands that can not afford that sort of spring break. There are not many places in the US that have Spring Break and all of the places that due celebrate Spring Break are slowly being pushed away and by MTVu (not MTV, but MTVu) going to out of country it is just fueling the fire to get rid of US spring breaks. I am not against Spring Breaks in other countries; I am in no way a “Buy American” spokesman. However, I do feel that US college students deserve to have Spring Break in the US. Panama City has been pushing Spring Breakers out more and more by developing 25+ condo’s and LaVela and Spinnaker live off of Spring Break. By MTVu leaving there will be hundreds of people backing down from Spring Break there. Panama City Beach is an important Spring Break spot that we can not lose as a Spring Break destination. Isn’t there away for MTVu to be in two places at once. I never understood why you only choose one location, leaving so many opportunities unexplored. I know my e-mail may not mean a lot to MTVu, but I am sure that it means a lot to the College students all over the US, especially the ones that can’t afford to fly to. I hope that you reconsider PCB or at least try to have some sort of MTVu set up. One Concert during peek Week is all it takes to make Spring Breakers feel like Spring Breakers. Thank you for your time. Joe From: "Rzepka, Jason" <Jason.Rzepka@mtvstaff.com> To: Subject: RE: Spring Break 2007 Date: Tue, 30 Jan 2007 16:01:54 -0500 Hi Joe, Thanks for your e-mail and enthusiasm for mtvU Spring Break. We had a great time in Panama City Beach last year and were thrilled with the amazing response from college students who joined us for the great live concerts and other on-the-beach fun. However, we’ve never advertised or promoted where our Spring Break 07 headquarters would be. Each year we look at the up-and-coming Spring Break hot spots and determine where we plan to host concerts, shoot mtvU programming, etc. This year the decision was made to set up our on-the-beach headquarters in Cancun. When making our plans for next year, we’ll look back at Spring Break 07, determine the hot spots for 08 and decide where our base will be. MTV and mtvU have set up Spring Break headquarters everywhere from San Diego, CA to Negril, Jamaica in the past. Thanks again for your interest in mtvU Spring Break. We’re looking for Spring Break footage shot by students all over the globe, and if you’re interested, please check out this casting call: http://www.mtvu.com/on_mtvu/casting_call/story.jhtml?id=1549874 If you’re taping the festivities down in PCB, there’s a chance your work could be on mtvU. Best Regards, -Jason Rzepka head of communications, mtvU From: joe Sent: Sat 1/27/2007 3:12 PM To: Cunningham, Maeve; DiMarco, Carlo; Rzepka, Jason; MTVu, Feedback Cc: MTVi-Admin Subject: Spring Break 2007 I am sending this e-mail to everyone I can, because I think that it is an outrage the MTVu pulled out of PCB. Please read or forward this to someone that can answer my questions. Thank you!!!!! There are a half a million College students waiting for a reply!!!!!!
