who is driving from nj/nj/pa area down to pcb and wat week and which way are u taking??


we are driving down from north jersey and we start our trip on 78 west on march 9th

Yoo I am heading down on March 9th with two friends coming from bergen county. We are leaving around 6:30am than driving til about 7pm that will leave us in atlanta. Spending the night there than waking up in the morning and driving the last 6 hours to stay at boardwalk resort til the 15th than driving home. Where you guys from??

im driving from newark, nj

accually im picking up the rental at newark airport at 7pm, then picking everyone up and start heading down at about 8pm.........im planning only on making 3-4 stops for gas and coffeee......17 hours streight driving

then droping the car off at panama city airport and taking the cab to our hotel......then repeat on the 17th, comes out cheaper if i just got a 2 day rental, one to get there, the other to come back up.....$100 each for both ways


o and i made the trip down to florida a few times (key west, south beach, orlando) and i have some tips :

1 = FOLLOW THE TRUCKERS, if your gonna speed, find the fastes truck u see and stay a car to a car and a half lenth behind it as much as possible.....it will save u gas and u won't get busted buy the cops for speeding, the radar will detect the truck, not u
also, slow down as the truck slows down beacause they have CB's and radios and they communicate wit other trucks and now more or less where the cops are.....ive done 100+ behind those ****ers for hours and never got caught

2 = DO NOT SPEED IN MARYLAND, set ur cruise control for the exact speed limit at most

3 = DO NOT USE RADAR DETECTORS IN VIRGINIA, there illegal

3 = DO NOT SPEED ON OPEN ROADS, u will get caught and buy the time ur flyin down the road going 100+ and see a cop car...OPPPS to late, there goes ur vacation

4 = DO NOT DRIVE ON THE LEFT LANE, aka fast lane.....trust me, drive to the right or best of all the middle...radars hit the left lane 1st

5 = DO NOT DRIVE FASTER THEN OTHERS, if u noticed that for some odd reason ur passing everyone, slo down and drive at the speed limit...cops are near buy

fastest way from jersey is to take 95 to 85 to 431 map quest is gay so the only way to get this shortcut is to put your adress to dothan, alabama and then dothan to pcb
mapquest says its the same time as 95 to 10 but its not you save anywhere from 2 to 4 hrs trust me i've made the drive from south jersey to pcb 5 times

ok so buy combining the 2 (nj to dathan and dathan to pcb) this is wat a got off mapquest.........

Merge onto I-78 W via EXIT 142 toward SPRINGFIELD / NEWARK INT'L AIRPORT (Portions toll) (Crossing into PENNSYLVANIA). 130.1 miles

Merge onto I-81 S via EXIT 1B on the LEFT toward HARRISBURG (Passing through MARYLAND and WEST VIRGINIA- then crossing into VIRGINIA). 370.2 miles

Merge onto I-77 S via EXIT 81 toward CHARLOTTE (Crossing into NORTH CAROLINA). 124.9 miles

Merge onto I-85 S via EXIT 13B toward SPARTANBURG (Passing through SOUTH CAROLINA- then crossing into GEORGIA). 247.7 miles

Keep RIGHT to take I-85 S via EXIT 242 toward ATL AIRPORT / MONTGOMERY. 55.5 miles

i guess those directions are about right i know from memory that its 95 to 85, 85 to 185, 185 to 80/280, 80/280 to 431, 431 to 231 and that runs you all the way into pcb on 98 all in all takes bout 16 hrs depending on stops and wasting time i'm sayin we caravan down there , get some 2 way walkie talkies all meet up at the wawa fridaynight and drive through straight all together should get us there around noon on sat the 10th which is perfect cause most places chick in is between noon and 4 pm

h yeah its alot sweeter drive to not just all highway cause in alabama and fl, you drive through some cool towns,, the trojan condom plant is actually in dothan maybe we can go down as a group and by them direct in bulk for cheap,

yo what's everyone ride situation cause i might have just lost mine and that might leave me and 3 girls w/ no way to our condo oh and i got room for 4 more in my condo anyone want to work something out or split a rental car i get discounts at budget we could get a 12 passenger van

if only u mentioned something last week.......i alrdy got my rental and we are 4 in a buick regal or similar, lol i don't even kno wat a buick regal is...haha

but this is wat we did = we did a 21 hour rental (march 9-10) and we did newark airport to pcb airport and then we did another 21 hour rental from pcb airport to newark airport (march 17-18).....came down to $100 each for the rental of 2 cars ( both wit navigation, under 25 fee, the 22.95 a day for extra insurance and airport fee's)

we figutred that we don't need the car all week down there, we just need it to get us there and back, and besides the trafic is gonna be so crazy that u prob walk faster then driving.........hope to see a lot of breakers on the road

if you take hutchinson or back beach road (are they the same thing) you can beat a lot of traffic. but driving by people along the way is a great time, as long as you're not in a hurry. meet some fun hitchhikers.
