what is the deal with smoking on the beach down there. Anybody ever run into trouble with this down there? not like balls out in front of the cop station, but low key, casual. anyone have experience?

my advise would be not too, but I wouldnt be suprised if it wasnt a big deal. However, there might be more cops running around the beach than usual this year, just use your head!

first day we were there about 2 years ago we were walking back to our hotel around 5pm-ish and started talking to some local girls on the beach who were with a bigger group and they were passing a pipe. My buddy took a hit and we left. It was kinda dieing down though and you could see if any cops were coming. I wouldn't try that but I don't do that stuff so make your own decision.

what about cigarettes, can you still smoke inside bars in florida, i heard it has to so w/ revenue % that is food sales, is this true can you smoke in the bars and clubs???

You're taking an even greater risk in your room however. If it's a blunt you can hide it easily and there probably will be people out on the beach at night. If a cop comes by on the beach, all you have to do is bury it in the sand and he would never find it. If cops came to your room however (which would happen, there's always a rat), you'd be up the creek without a paddle. You might spend the rest of your spring break in a Panama City Beach jail. I just think the beach poses less risks. And don't tell me that you can blow the smoke into a filter, someone who knows the smell well but doesn't smoke at all anymore can sniff it out from a mile away...

Yes you can, and cigs are cheap as hell. About 3 dollars I think. I get cartons on base for 24.

I completely disagree. If you're out on the beach, you are in plain site, which means that if someone (a cop) smells it, and sees you with it, even if you ditch it, it's too late. in a hotel if someone smells it in the hall, they don't know exactly where it's coming from and if they knock on your door you can get rid of it before you let them in. then they have no proof.

I don't see anyone notifying the cops over a little weed smell which might be coming from any number of rooms. I mean if you bake your room all weekend, maybe, but a quick j once a day isn't going to attract attention in a hotel setting if you keep the window / screen door open.

I stopped worrying about that risk awhile ago anyways...

i don't smoke really, unless i'm drunk. some of my buddies can barely go a day tho. i'm asking for them really. they asked me if its chill down there, and since i didnt smoke last year i didn't know.

Herb isn't my thing, but if I smell it on the beach (which is often) I don't say anything. However, if it's cigarettes, especially if it's blowin in my face; then I'll be loud about it.

We spent a good amount of our 16 hour drive on the way there rolling up some nice lil j's for the week. The first day we got there we walked on the beach and smoked just fine. same goes for the hotel room. Most experianced smokers know how to be very casual about it and not get caught. HOWEVER- there are cops that are constantly walking the beach, and our hotel, the sunspree, had at least 4 sometimes 8 there at all times. Its a good idea to keep any of your stuff locked in the safe in your room, that way the cleaning staff, cops, etc cant get to it. Be careful though, we messed up last year and couldnt get the safe back open, and had to call maitenance to come open it for us. Luckily the maintenance guy was a partier himself, and couldnt care less what we had in the safe
