I would suggest staying in school as long as possible so you don't have to pay them back right away. I'm pushing 7 years now at the univ of iowa.

Being in school doesn't help. I'm class of '05 too, but I'm in business school now. In the process of trying to buy an apartment, found a sweet place I was kinda pumped about, and the board of the building just rejected me because of the B-school loans. So pissed...Suck big fat *** indeed...

Yea that sucks, I was supposed to graduate college in 05 but i transfered out to univ of iowa and lost a bunch of credits so hopefully this is the year to finally be done. I never new having student loans could come back on ya like that.

yeah im tryin to buy a 3 familly house and i have a credit score of 711......well i got rejected on 0 down on a 750k house (i accually asked for 800k cuz i want the extra 50k for a new car and for all the closing costs and fee's) because of the student loans

so the real estate guy told me to pay them off and buy july/aug hopefully my credit score will jump and i could get 0 down at 6-7%

Yeah they kill you with credit requirements when you transfer, epecially if you wanna switch majors...

And they said business school loans were a "smart investment"....

Anyway, the best solution is just to party as much as possible...

yeah, at our age with a good score in the 700's it's tough to build up more because the biggest thing they wanna see is a longer history, not much we can do about that...

you can also take out a big loan for 80% of the value, plus a "piggyback" for the other 20%. Your rate will be higher on the small loan, but you're more likely to get approved, and you can pay it off first. I work in finance, so if you wanna bounce ideas off each other, send me a PM

Lol yea we do i'm sure we could have a crazy time. I go out that way once in awhile. Where you originally from? Thats the way I look at it, I don't even wanna think about repaying student loans so I just stay in school. Went 3 years at a community college and didnt graduate, then came out here to Univ of Iowa, went to school 3 years and got kicked out for grades 1 year. So lets see i'm a 6th or 7th year senior and won't graduate till december.
