Spring Break funds are cut
Looks like PCB's Spring Break marketing budget just got cut in half from $300k to $150k. In four years, the SB budget has gone from $800k to $150k. But, if the Spring Break numbers are still strong (which they were last year), the budget cut would certainly be justified. No need spending that money on something that is a sure thing (Spring Break).
But, what do you guys think? Do marketing and advertising help you decide where you'll spend Spring Break? Have any of you even seen promotional material (around campus, for example) for PCB Spring Break? Other interesting facts in that article... - The number of “college Spring Break friendly” rooms on the Beach, where resorts are willing to rent to students as young as 21, have shrunk from 7,500 to 5,000 - For 2008, YPartnership (marketing firm for Bay County TDC) has proposed engaging the MTV network into a “partnership” with the TDC to produce college Spring Break. The directors instructed agency CEO Peter Yesawich to negotiate a possible contract with the network and assigned the remaining $150,000 TDC budget amount toward that end. Spring Break funds are cut (note you can post comments on that story... post it up!) |

Let me tell you this, from all aspects regarding Spring Break in PCB, there will still be large crowds! As I posted earlier, we are on board with RockStar energy drink and MtvU to come BACK to PCB once again next year. The crowds will be there, thats for srue......................... will wait and see how many advertisers come. Enjoy

I see no problem cutting the funds and re-directing them somewhere else with the crowds PCB has during the spring break season. Now, if the crowds start to dwindle, you can bet your butt those funds will find there way back somehow

We first decided to start coming to pcb after we found this site like 6 years. Jason made it seem like the place to be so we came down and have been back 5 of the past 6 years. I think advertising might help a little but just word of mouth prolly gets the job done. I go to the University of Iowa and I see springbreak stuff around town but nothing directly for pcb. They are always mentioned in the flyer but thats about it. I dont think pcb needs that much advertising to attract students, but I dont think they should be cutting the budget either. Our first 3 years down in pcb were def way better than the past few years and there was a noticable drop in students. Where is this money being distributed to if they are cutting it out of the springbreak budget?

Ouch ouch! That is a big pinch on anyone’s arm but JSmitty has a valid point. Word of mouth is the best advertising tool. I’m not too concerned about it. Spring break will still continue to go strong; we just need to keep spreading the word. Btw people.......WE ARE ALREADY HALF WAY TO SPRING BREAK NOW! JUST 6 MORE MONTHS TO GO!!
P.S....Steve I was really hoping this would be something similar to your April fools joke :P |

If MTVU is coming back to PCB then that will be all the poblicity PCB needs!!!! The first year I went to PCB was the best year ever!!!!! I never saw a flyer or a poster or a tv ad!!!!!!! I just heard that it was a great time and that if you bring the beer everything else would fall into place!!!!! The can cut the budget all they want, they can cut srping break friendly rooms all they want, but Spring Break will always be there (IF THEY LIKE IT OR NOT)
