Dress Codes
I've never been during peak week but I've heard mixed reviews about the dress codes. What is acceptable during spring break and what can get you turned away? If anyone knows what clubs are the strict ones and what they don't let you wear let me know. I wanted to get all new clothes for when I go out this year. It'd be a waste of money if I couldn't wear any of it.

The only dress codes are for the VIP Lounge at Spinnaker and PK Lounge at Club La Vela. No jeans, no hats, shirts tucked in, etc.
Everything else is whatever you think is fly. |

what about t-shirts, are they allowed if they're "trendy" (i.e. graphic print t-shirts)? |

My big concern is gear. What about Urban brandnames, fitted caps, sneakers, track jackets, hoodies? Up here they are really crackin down on all that stuff because they don't want to attract the wrong crowd. Is florida frowning upon any of the items listed?

No jeans?? I've been in there a couple of time at LaVela PK lounge and a few people including myself were wearing jeans. Heck even the bartender was wearing them.
Im guessing it really depends on the current crowd thats in there and any expected special guests/celebs. |

I've seen them relax the dress code, too... depends on how busy they are... but, the dress code is what they claim, so I would expect them to enforce it most of Spring Break. One thing that always helps your chances of getting in VIP areas is to bring along 2 girls per guy. They'll never admit it, but the bouncers get bonuses to keep the m/f ratio at a certain level.

Yeah the dress code at the PK Lounge and VIP are pretty much at the bouncer's discretion. If they think you look good, they'll let you in. If you have hot girls with you, they'll let you in. The busier they are, the higher the standards are.
As for regular entry, you can wear whatever you want. It's pretty laid back. I'll wear shorts and t-shirts some nights. You'll see guys in wife beaters and stuff. I don't recommend that though. LaVela and Spinnaker are more "club gear" type places where as Harpoon Harry's, Hammerhead Fred's, Latitudes, Sharky's, etc are more laid back "beach bar" type places. |

Steve O prolly put it the best....I've been in the vip at spinnaker several times with jeans on and I think the number one determining factor is how busy it is and if you have girls with ya

I've always wondered why guy's cant wear tank tops in alot of bars/clubs......anyone have a decent answer for this? Im not looking to wear one into a bar anyways but to me it doesnt make sense....I understand alot of the other things because they try and associate it with gangs or whatever, but where does the tank top fit in with presenting a problem?

puffdaddy white party
Man,there so much that goes in the mind of these people,Even the Ideal of keeping a club from going black,I hate to say that cause, I hate having to hear that crap all the time,Ive got burned a couple times tho and Im a straight whiteboy except for my huge black *****,lol.got hit up for some casual tennis shoe after look for the place for a half hour, one time had a sweet ecko outfit and a mans gold chain that I work for, and got turn away while some ford ranger driving sea shell necalace wereing and a 6 yr old hollister shirt with the logo peeling, got in(no offence Im sure the sea shell necalace and ranger is probaly half the people on here)true im white an got turned away, but they figure you got to throw a couple of us under the bus to keep it moving.Thats one of the reason electronic music like tecno/trance is so big no rap, unless they can get a bigg group to perform which they know will attract "whites".dont get me wrong totaly understand NO bandanas ,hat straight, I live in southwest detroit and gangs are HUGE, Pepo and Folk cause a lot of issues.Crazy part the rest of the city is completly black and they dont bang,Go Figure ,for spring break there going to relax a lot of it,Kids in school on vacation and geting drunk, not to many people wear 200 hundred dollor shirt when they party like that, the struggling student is a hard card to beat,
so lets enjoy it and get, low, low, low, low DISCLAIMER:these are my wacked out views to night and does not reflect tripsmarter in anyway ! |

men who wear tank tops are douchebags and are probably jacked up on who knows what and are looking for attention and admiration on their juice filled arms!
and over sized white tshirts are called UNDER SHIRTS.... come on guys. this dresscode is NOT HARD TO FOLLOW.... people act how they dress. PERIOD. quit *****ing because its NOT going to change, so just deal with it and enjoy the party! ps TIP your bartender!
