Student City/Name Your Price?
Looking for some advice here... There's been a small change of plan, and now it looks like 4 of us are coming to PCB for spring break, mar 15-22. So... we'd quite like to be in one of the party hotels.
Problem is they're all a bit more expensive. But student city (who i know are expensive) advertise a name your price deal. Question is; how flexible is it? If I call up and offer $300 per person for a £459 room, are they just going to laugh at me? Anyone done this before? Any advice welcomed! |

Rent from owners
dude whatever you do don't book through those websites. If you do, your going to overpay. your best bet is to go to sites such as ..VRBO® is Vacation Rentals by Owner® Vacation Homes Rentals by Owner and search for rooms at the major party hotels there. It has a ton of different rooms/condos that are available for rent by owners, which is ALWAYS CHEAPER.
I was looking to go the 15-22 before a couple of my buds backed out and I was finding most rooms for around $1400 for that week at the Summit. I just booked one at the summit for me and 3 of my buds for the first week in march, 1-8, for $1150 including taxes and cleaning fees. Granted that week isn't quite as busy as the other 2 major weeks, it still works out to be less than 300 a man for a condo which has a full kitchen and 2 baths... Not to mention the room can sleep up to 6 which means if we do find 2 more people to go it would be less than $200 a man. Granted at the Summit someone must be at least 21 to rent the room, but if you find the right owner they usually don't care, such as the one I rented with. Private message me if you got other questions, last year I made the mistake of booking through one of those sites and payed way to much. |

Exactly, its always gonna be cheaper to do it all yourself.....these springbreak sites have to make their money somewhere right?? Its obviously by overcharging

Cheers for the replies guys. I did give SC a ring just to see, but they wouldn't budge on price (so much for that promotion!). In the end we decided location & price was more important than it being a party hotel. We're only really going to be using it for the beds, getting ready & pre-drinking.
So we're booked in a room that sleeps 6 at the Sunbird Suites... $974 for a week for 4 of us. |
