Lightbulb Transporting Alcohol

I have been heing rumors about cops checking people on the way to PCB for alcohol ad also security or something searching through bags at the holiday inn sunspree resort there too. I was wondering wether or not these are true and if there are any other tings to be aware of when driving with alcohol to PCB. Help on this would be much appreciated.

I've heard nothing like that... they are big on the drug free stuff, but I didn't see any cars being searched on the way down. The traffic on front beach rd/thomas drive is so bad, I wouldn't worry about being pulled over...

Just keep the alcohol unopened in the car and you won't have any problems....or if you have a truck, don't let peeps drink in the bed of it, cause the cops will get the driver on that one...

Have fun.

late.

be careful

Just becareful - don't speed too much through southern alabama and northern florida because we saw alot of people pulled over. We saw them empty out someone's trunk and there was a kid standing by the back door of the cop car with hand cuffs on.

I should hope that wouldn't happen to me because a few people with me are over 21. As long as we aren't passing through a dry county and don't have any open alcoholic beverages open in the car I am hoping it should be all good because I plan on keeping my alcohol wrapped up in my clothes in my bag. I woul like to think that speeding is not probable cause for searching a car anyway.

Seeing this map has made me realize where t really be careful. All the white counties are dry(alcohol free) counties. I would be screwed if I was stopped for speeding or anything in those counties soi will be careful.

Cool

Very nice, AberCool! That's good advice from silvergsr and gotopcb... and especially slow down and put the beer away from Dothan to PCB. I couldn't tell you how many people have stories of getting nabbed along Hwy 231. 231 gets so much of the Spring Break traffic, and has so much more than its share of alcohol-related accidents, that the cops watch it like hawks.

Good luck on the trip down, everyone!

You know...we took 231 last year and just sat in traffic for hours at end.... this year I felt a bit daring and decided to take 331 down and it proved to be completely empty. It is mostly 60-65mph 2/4 lane highway. From Decatur, AL to PCB via I-65/231 is around 6 hours, but I-65/80/331 actually turned out to be a little bit less than that, and we didn't hit any traffic at all until we got to Front Beach Rd.

The only thing was that there were cops running radar/laser all along 98 until we got out of the beaches area...but then again that was at 3:30am in the morning on the way out of PCB.

Check it out on a map if you are heading down via I-65...

Excellent route silvergsr! During Spring Break I think that's probably the quickest route you can take... but if you find yourself on 231 because you know it, take the Hwy 20 cutoff before you hit PC. It'll run you over to hwy 79, which comes right down to the beach.

Great suggestion silvergsr. Thanks.

No one I know knows about that route so i think i want to take it. Judging by my travel program it will take at least 2-3 hours off the drive an I am sure even more than that since i would be avoiding a lot of the traffic. I will be very cautios not to spee though. I know it iinevitable that I will hit bad traffic eventually. I hate it, I have to wait 3 more days to come down....3 days way too long.
