MGM is at the far south part of The Strip. Palms is about as far a walk from the center of The Strip is as MGM is.

Stay as close to Flamingo and Las Vegas Blvd (The Strip) as your cash allows if you want to walk to most places.

If between MGM and Palms...

If first visit and you want the "party and name factor" (to go home and brag about)... do The Palms. But do understand it is not on The Strip so bring lots of cab fare.

Bottom Line: Your first visit to Las Vegas won't be your last. It is as addictive as the white sands of Destin and PDB.

Don't expect to to conquer Vegas on your first trip. No one does (nor can).

Mandalay Bay... even farther south of the MGM.

If you need to go home and brag about the resort you stayed at, simply book that resort (or your choice) and pay what you need to get anywhere else when in town.

If you want to be in the center of the action (being able to walk around and booze and not worry about cab fare)... once again:

Stay as close to the center of Flamingo and Las Vegas Blvd. as you can.

My tip? Caesars isn't the "old folk's" place it was in the past. They have pretty much gutted and revamped the entire property. Perfect location and happening property with clubs and pools.
