Getting a House instead of condo/hotel
I was just wondering if it is better to get a house instead of condos in PCB. We have about 16 people in our group and we have found a house that will accomodate us. The house is approximately 1 mile inland from the beach and about two miles from La Vela and Spinnakers. We are planning on getting kegs and having parties at our house, but I was wondering if it is more fun to have a condo in the summit or boardwalk. It is also about 150 dollars cheaper per person so that means more booze
If anyone could tell me there experience of staying at a house or going to a house to party vs condos that would be awesome.

never stayed at a house but being a mile off from the beach doesnt sound good to me. interested to know what you think of it tho, so make sure you do a trip report when you get back.

I think being n a big house with 15 other friends would limit the parties some what as your miles away from the big parties and getting to no new people. but i guess some people would like that too. i personaly woulnt do it.

Well I guess we just talked to the owner of the house today and she said it is a 5 minute walk from the beach and downtown which is a little closer than we assumed. A five minute walk is probably more like a half mile from the big parties.

Downtown Panama City? There is no downtown Panama City Beach and nothing that resembles a downtown. If it's in PC you probably don't want it for Spring Break, that's a good 20 minute drive each way.

Yeah, I'd definitely get the property's address and do a Google maps check first.
Not to be a skeptic, but it's in the owner's best interest to represent it as being closer to the beach and superclubs. Especially because she knows you won't be able to physically see the house before renting it. I'd say the benefit to staying at Boardwalk or the Summit is that you know exactly what you're getting. |

Your better off getting two four bedrooms at the Boardwalk Beach Condos... I have made the mistake of staying in Panama City 5 min to beach before. Paname City and Panama City Beach pretty much has water everywere!!!!!! So there is always some sort of beach with in 5 min, it just may be the bay or a lake, or a stream, hell it could be a puddle be sure!!! Also, you will have 0, and I mean 0 chance of getting anyone to come back to your beach house with you!!! I mean, " Hey want to come back to my beach house 2 miles away" Is not the best pick up line no matter how close it is to Dirty Dic%s Crab house in town!!!!
Just make sure that it all adds up |

Hawkeye, to insure the best SB experince I would strongly advise you check into getting a couple of hotel rooms that are right off the beach or at least across the street if possible. Having a beach house sounds cool but that fact that it's a mile inland seems like it can really limit several possibilities. Let us know what you decide on or if you have any other questions.

Do you suggest booking the condos through the actual hotels or privately. As of right now I am leaning towards the condos but the people in my group are still set on getting a house. The address for the house is Cobia St which is in the middle of nowhere. If you guys could offer me any more feed back that would be greatly appreciated. Also another question is do you have access to all three buildings if you stay at boardwalk?

yeah tell ur friends that their dumb for stickin with that idea after you saw how far it is. if you stay there your trip is going to be lame. i prefer private owner rentals, anywhere on the beach will be a better option tho, no matter who you pay

Cobia St isn't a bad area. It's a little off from the "super clubs" but it is still on the water. And it's right there near Foghorns, newby's etc. Maybe a 10 min walk....
I have no idea what she mean't by downtown thou. As downtown is in the city. Across the bridge a good 15 mins. If you can get an exact address. (You can pm it too me if you wish) I can see if I can get a scope on what the place looks like. Last edited by Spitfirex007; December-5th,2008 at 10:17 AM. Reason: Typo |
