Safety tips and general advice
A thread talking about games and the water made me think of this. It's so simple but for some reason people can't seem to get the concept of the flags.
- But when out on the beach please pay attention to the flag system. Green - LOW HAZARD - Calm Condition, Exercise Caution Yellow - MEDIUM HAZARD - Moderate Surf and/or Strong Currents Red - HIGH HAZARD - High Surf and/or Strong Currents Double Red - WATER CLOSED TO PUBLIC Blue - DANGEROUS MARINE LIFE There were so many deaths last year due to the fact people cannot seem to follow the simple warning system. Last year we had double red, and there were more then one known death. And people still kept going into the water. ( I believe the police even handed out fines) If you are that hot I suggest finding a pool. The Official Site of the City of Panama City Beach, Florida - Visitors: Beaches I don't know how other clubs work. But outside La Vela there is always a cab parked waiting to take you where you need to go. (And in the rare case they are not there. Ask a bouncer to call you a ride. I personally have no problem letting someone use my phone if they need to get home) The bus shuttle runs by a lot.. And I believe a church group even gives people free rides. DO NOT drink and drive. If you ignore everything else I write, please pay attention to this one. I've seen some nasty wrecks and accidents due to people driving when they should have been nowhere near the wheel. Also remember to just walk away from a fight. Don't try to get involved! And don't get in security's / polices way if they are trying to break up a fight. Or arrest somebody. (I got kicked in the back of the head because some jackass thought it would be funny to get into the action. Needless to say he might have missed a few steps on the way out) Let them do their job! Don't use the hotel rails as a spring board to the ocean water below. You will lose. Ladies pay attention. Do not take a drink from a guy you don't know. Let the bartender hand it too you. Don't leave your drink in the open. If you wanna dance and take your drink with you, keep your hand over the top of the cup. You'd be surprised how many times people will try to slip you something. Watch your friends and don't let them drink too much. Everyone is here to have fun and get trashed! But I've seen it happen too many times. Somebody drinks too much and has to be rushed to the hospital. Be respectful of the laws and rules. Locals (not all, but a lot) hate spring breakers because they use no common sense when they come here. Don't break your bottles on the sidewalks or parking lots. Don't walk on the sea oats. (They are there for a purpose and you can get fined if you walk, stomp or destroy them in any way) etc. Use common sense and you'll be fine. Fires on the beaches are not allowed! I don't think this is really a problem. But some people don't know so I figured I'd post it. On the same note: Glass bottles, cups etc are not allow on the beach neither. Broken glass hidden in the sand is never fun! Keep your drinking outside the clubs/bars. If you get caught, you get tossed. That cover you just paid is now gone and you are off elsewhere spending more money. Find a bathroom! Funny story.. Last year we seen some guy pissing outside the club in the parking lot. Well he has the door flung open, trying to piss. As we were walking up he tried to hide it I guess.. Ended up going to the bathroom all over his friends floor. Did not even hit the parking lot. Would have saved himself a lot of trouble if he would have just found a restroom. I am sure I'll come up with more later |

I am going to bump this and post a couple more things.
Be careful when it comes to your purses and other personal items. Travel light, carry just enough cash to get what you need. Take your ATM card with you if need be. A quick call to the bank can save you a huge headache. I see it all the time. People leave their stuff alone or with a "friend" and it gets stolen. Sadly not much can be done when this happens. But people lose everything. Drinking in the parking lots and the streets is not allowed. Some places enforce this, others don't. But you can get a fine. ATF loves catching people doing this. Don't try be a stunt devil on the little moped's and stuff. Sure watching some dumb *** wreck is always funny. But it still leads to a lot of people getting hurt. |
