Beer Pong Safety Tips from Fox News

Fox & Friends had a segment Tuesday morning about how Beer Pong has been linked to communicable diseases such as the flu or even herpes.

The problem, as Fox Beer Pong experts explain, is that kids are sharing cups AND failing to sterilize the ping pong ball after it hits the floor.
Now, I’m suspect of whether Beer Pong has really been officially linked to an increase in college kids getting sick because there was a lot of Internet chatter going around last year about this same subject. Some stories on the Web said the CDC had conducted a study on the problem, but I couldn’t find anything on its Website.
I think Fox & Friends may have picked up on that, using their own doctor on the segment lamenting the germy dangers of the drinking game.
There is this story in The Lantern school paper from The Ohio State University. It also quotes its own sources confirming a possible link.

Embarrassingly, I asked both the University of Florida and Florida State University if they had issued any warnings about the Beer Pong epidemic. Their spokesmen got a chuckle out of the request, and FSU even sent the question to the student clinic where someone came to the same conclusion I did _ no official report from the CDC linking Beer Pong and herpes.
Despite the questionable veracity as to whether a true link has been determined, Fox & Friends does have some helpful tips to stay herpes-free and still enjoy a game of Beer Pong.
∑ Do not reuse cups.
∑ Do not share cups.
∑ Have a clean cup off camera to drink out of.

I had a friend in high school die from spinal meningitis. I guess one of the causes is saliva, although rare. They said it was possible that he got it playing beer pong. Not to be a debbie downer or anything but just something to think about.
