Hmm to Sunspree or not to Sunspree

Hey guys/gals,

Well, looks like I easily convinced my friends to head down for a 4th time. Here's my dilemma.

We ALWAYS stay at the Sunspree. I absolutely am in love with this place. We're more of a hang out at the pool/beachfront all day, goto the club for a few hours and come back to the pool to finish off kind of group...the clubs are OK...but we have just as much fun after as well, which if you've been to the Sunspree before you know how bangin the pool is.

But for some of them $ is an issue this time around and it's hard finding a good price for this spot. The cheapest I found was $373...which is actually about $30 lower than what we paid last year.

I know a lot of you will freak at the price and you all go to vrbo.com and thats cool. But I cant convince myself or anyone else to want to stay somewhere else. It almost wouldnt be the same NOT going to our spot. It's worth it to me to pay an extra $100 or whatever it is to go there.

But I dont want anyone backing out because of $$ issues.

Any thoughts? I kind of like the looks of the Summit...I know its as strict as the sunspree so that wont be anything new to us haha, any condos for rent on vrbo for summit?

During spring break? I think a little over $200. It's about $2400 for the week for 6 people. The hotel is charging like $20/pp more than studentbreaks.com. During normal times? Maybe a little over $100.

I'm not crazy about going through companies but I've done it before and its the cheapest I could find for the sunspree for the 13th-20th.

Found some nice rooms on vrbo for the Summit and for Boardwalk condo's but I dont know if people will go for it. I know when we first started looking at going to PCB 3 years ago we first looked at the Summit...but once we found the Sunspree we gave it a shot instead. Everyone of us seems to love the sunspree. But if even one person backs out it puts us in a pickle $$ wise because for 5 people its almost $500...thats too much even for me.

I'll have to talk to them...hopefully they can all go for the Sunspree...but damn, $210/pp on vrbo is tempting...maybe they will like that difference in $$$$ and go for it instead. at least we could walk to spinnakers and the like.

EDIT: Plus going through companies allows for everyone to pay their own share...instead of putting it all on one card and collecting cash from everyone. We all know how that goes sometimes....

Ya we paid a lottle over $400 this past year but we talked them into giving us the Panamaniac card too once we got down there...so we really paid $360 for the room if you think about it because we needed the card anyways...

But it was worth it...the Sunspree is such a good time. My friends and I dont really go down during the day to any of the stuff going down by MTV...I wish they would I am always interested in the scene on that side during the day...but like I said the pool and beach front is awesome enough at the spree...so why bother i guess.

But it would be a nice change to do something different down there.

pass on the sunspree and summit, those places are both nazi land, i dont need some hotel employee treating me a child when i'm paying outrageous prices(that would cover any concieveable damage) to stay in the hotel. i'll be sticking with boardwalk sunbird and long beach resort. those are the places to be.
sunspree was the lamest tamest year ever for me.
summit was like being in boot camp or something.
get a place near the superclubs.

Deathbloom is on a distinguished road
Security sucks

I second that Nazi land comment. The security are high and mighty. So drinking and chilling is probably ok, but if you get loud or act up a little then you can expect eviction. Oh and FSS don't climb over the balcony rail. That = Felony

I can understand your thought haha.

I've stayed there for the last 3 years...never had a problem with security...if anything they actually remembered us from previous years last time around so it was cool.

i'm tellin you man, sunspree is restricting your possibilities, your paying as much as a boardwalk condo and say you meet a girl on the beach, you cant bring her up to your room unless you buy a 30 dollar 1 day wristband. why would you pay them money to cock block you? they'll keep doing it untill people stand up for themselves and go somewhere that treats you like a paying customer instead of a prisoner.
