hate to disagree with my boys on here, but I'm gonna throw in a vote for Summit. Yes, the boardwalk is nicer, but I don't think its party atmosphere even comes close to the summit's (I stayed at Boardwalk 2 years ago, Summit last year)

Granted I haven't stayed at the Boardwalk Condos (just the hotel), but I've been in the condos a couple times, and it was much, much quieter than the Summit (or even the Boardwalk hotel). That being said, I've been with my gf both times, so I've never had to deal with the issue of bringing people back (people say that aspect of Summit is annoying)

Overall, my opinion is that it depends on what you're looking for -- if you want a nice place, go with the Boardwalk. If you're okay with it being a little more grungy, but having a better party atmosphere, I'd go with the Summit. And I'm sure you could tip the guard $20 if you wanted to bring a girl back (and if you're about to seal the deal with a girl, I'm sure it's worth the $20 to you)

theres virtually no way to sneak ppl into summit, and if your caught with an unregistered guest in your room you get evicted, not to mention the constant wristband checks and car searches when entering the premisis. boardwalk condos have a nice party atmosphere, not too crazy not too quiet, in fact, i had more crazy things happen at boardwalk than at summit. my week at summit made my blood boil. i'm just not okay with the fact that i paid for a room and am dictated who can and cannot be in my room, its downright unamerican. so i refuse to stay there ever again.

summit is definately the way to go if you want 24/7 partying. no joke there is always someone up getting trashed looking for other people to get trashed with. that said if you like to bring people back to your room or just need some sleep after a hard night, the constant parties can be annoying.

boardwalk is better if you want more privacy, and you can still have killer parties with the size of their rooms. they are not as close to the superclubs, but have been the location for the MTV village for the past 2 years.

either way you go, rent through a condo owner. it's way cheaper than studentcity and all those other spring break companies.

I've been looking at the Summit condos and I've heard a lot of good things. I've e-mailed some owners, as well. Can you not even bring friends up to visit your room for a few? That's pretty ridiculous... I have a lot of friends going and we're all staying in different hotels and I know we'll want to meet up and party... I don't want to get evicted for bringing friends up to party...

you can sneak visitors in at boardwalk, they don't have nearly as much security and most people just walk through the fence on the front of the property.

thanks... I've started looking at Boardwalk condos, too. is that what everyone means? because there is a Boardwalk hotel, as well. but it seems that the condos are a better deal...

Summit / Boardwalk Lowdown

Here is a cut and paste of my thought from last year but updated.

The Summit

Pros:
  • You can drink/party in the parking lots while waiting to check in because the area is sealed off.
  • The elevators can be fun cause of the people on them.
  • Major party atmosphere all around you
  • Hotel parties are everywhere
  • Club La Vela, Spinnakers, and Hammerhead Freds are all right beside you.
  • Your at ground zero for all the parting and action going on during the day behind the hotel on the beach.
Cons:
  • Super strict about wristbands.
  • You cant bring any outside guest back to the hotel.
  • The stairways are nasty and funky smelling because of ppl's BO and drunks pissing on them.
  • Security can be strict about taking funnels, kegs and such to the beach though I haven’t had any trouble before.
  • Very pricey
Boardwalk Condos

Pros:
  • For the most part they don’t check for wristbands and you can bring back outside guests. If they do a wristband check you will have no problem getting a guest band FREE, HELL YEA!
  • Very plush hotel and environment
  • Ground zero for all the daytime action on the beach with MTVU.
  • Elevators are very clean
  • Very short walk to La Vela, Spinnaker, and Hammerhead Freds.
  • Again the place is very posh if that matters to you.
  • The condos are in many cases cheaper than the Summit or Boadwalk hotel.
Cons:
  • Not a huge party atmosphere like the Summit.
I'ved stated at both places for a week at a time. This year I would be happy with staying at either place IMO but leaning more towards Boardwalk condos at the moment.

I e-mailed some condo owners from both and a man who owns a Summit condo said you had to be 25 to rent from Summit, but only 21 from individual owners. is this the same at Boardwalk?
