I'm trying to find more people stayin there for SB during Mar 13-20th... the only ppl I know of are the ppl I'm going with...

There's a discussion about it in one of these threads. There seems to be a few people staying there. When I lived there, the people who lived there before me during spring break told me it was pretty busy. I know on certain nights during the off season there was random parties being thrown in some rooms there and security didn't bother them at all.

Yea but it's not bad at all. You walk right beside Pineapple Willy's...or you can cut through my neighborhood, which is directly to the left if you look out your balcony to the left of Pineapple Willy's. There's a 'public beach access' in between every other house.

Why is this place so popular this year for spring break....last year the place was dead....I talked to someone that said over 80% of the rooms were empty when we were there. We stayed at sunbird last year and when u would look over at night you would see maybe 15 lights on in the whole building

Maybe because they had good deals and its near all the clubs... it was new last year no one really had heard of it...

Even if Laketown claims to be full, it isn't full. The bank took over the property in foreclosure when only 65 of the 785 units were sold. Sterling Resorts only has access to 300 of the remaining 720. That leaves over half the place that, at "capacity," will be sitting empty. That's why the place is so desperate to rent unfurnished units (ex. 3BD @ $1300 for a month in March).

My feeling was that the salespeople were pushing that they were almost sold out to get people to book. When I called:

Guy #1: Said they had availability, then said they were sold out when I asked for a better price.
Guy #2: Said they had one left, but wouldn't match price on Orbitz.
Guy #3: Said there were two left, would match the price but I never called back.

I seriously considered booking LW, but 1) the website was pretty dodgy, like the reservation page not being encrypted and 2) I don't like dealing with salespeople who are obviously talking out of their asses just to make a sale. I'd do my best to work a deal when booking this place.

I booked all my rooms on vrbo.....all the rooms we got hold 8 people and for each place we paid between 1080-1320 so divide that by 8 people and it was dirt cheap per person......Never ever would i even think about booking any condo through the front desk you pay way more

Yeah no doubt.... individuals will give you a break if you do the week. I couldn't use vrbo because owners don't want to rent Wednesday through Sunday because it screws up two weeks worth of rentals and I can't leave town for a whole week. All the responses were basically... thanks for the inquiry, but f**k off.

Oh well I booked our 3+ br on Studentbreaks.com. It was $338 pp for 8 people. I'd say that's a good deal. I have never booked through the actual hotel for any of my spring break trips though.
