how do you hook up? I know a lot of times people use two hooks with a sinker on the third attachment that sits at the bottom while the two hooks float above. Is this what you do or you do something else

Thanks

You can do it that way, but what I do is buy a "gulf rig" which is a thick leader with two swivels to put hooks on. I place a 5oz egg sinker above the gulf rig and then tie the gulf rig on.

Mid march the Spanish mackerel should start biting. Those are always fun!

Do you need to go on a boat to catch them? If so, any recommendations on a charter service?

No need for a charter service to catch Spanish mackerel. Just get some "gotcha" type plugs and visit either the pier or St. Andrews state park and visit the point or the jetty. You can buy those plugs at the local wal-mart. Here is a picture of the lure:

Yikes!!

We will be there the middle of October and really looking forward to it, but now I'm wondering about these little sharks?? Are they dangerous? How close in do they come?? And since there are a lot less people, will that be more of a problem with them?? I know, I sound like a wuss but, hey, I am.

Those little fellas aren't dangerous You have probably swam with them every time you were in the ocean and didn't even know it. They mostly come close to shore at night and early in the morning to feed.

Yep, the red tide killed everything close to shore for most of our trip. But my offshore trip went great!

Here is a small trout I caught just yesterday here in KY. As you can tell, I like to fish ALOT. Notice the TripSmarter.com Tee-shirt?:
