Area State Parks

We will be down next month for vacation. I request a yearly vacation planner for Panama City Beach. I was looking at the day trip section of a older vacation planner. I am possibly interested in visiting the Florida Caverns State Park and the Falling Waters State Park. Both are no farther than 1 1/2 hours away and both had things that appealed to me. I am curious which is the better state park to visit as to better things to see. Both sounded great. Any input would be appreciated by anyone who has visited these state parks.

What types of things are there to do at those parks? That sounds like something I would like to check out.

Hey XI Bowhunter, sorry I just saw this. Have not been on the board since the end of September. Florida Caverns State Park has 800 scenic acres with publicly accessible limestone caverns, guided tours, nature trails, swimming, hiking, canoeing, picnicking, camping and fishing. This is an hour and a half drive north taking US 231 to SR 167. The phone number is 850-482-1228.

Falling Waters State Park has a 67 foot waterfall, it empties into a 100 ft. deep sinkhole, 945 of boardwalk traversing numerous dry sinkholes, swimming, picnic and camping areas. This is a one hour drive north on SR 77A. Their number is 850-482-4948.

I would really love to go to Wakulla Springs. It has one of the world's deepest and largest fresh water springs (185 feet deep). The grounds are home to an abundance of wildlife. Enjoy glass bottom boats and jungle cruises, swimming, nature trails and picnic areas. This is a two hour drive up US 231 N to SR 20 to SR 267. Their number is 850-224-5950. I thought you could see manatees here.
