Thunder Beach rolls into town....

Thunder Beach is here! Organizers expect 90,000 bikers to attend this year's Spring Rally in PCB. And with all of the bikes I've seen the past few days, I believe it!

The event is spread out over several days (only 4 days officially, but there are plenty of bikers in town early, pre-rally concerts and lots of partying, so... it takes up pretty much a whole week) and takes place at 7 official venues (but spills over to take over the entire beach during the weekend):

Frank Brown Park

The Shoppes At Edgewater

The Boardwalk Beach Resort

Sharky's Restaurant & Tiki Bar

Spinnaker Beach Club

The Sandpiper Beacon

Newby's Too

Edgewater and Newby's Too were pretty busy today as the vendors were setting up and many of the early bikers checked out the offerings. This weekend will be pure madness as Harleys take over the beach from one end to the other.

NOTE FOR ALL YOU BIKERS IN TOWN: Bikini "Hawg Washes" are available at Shaggy Marlin's on Thomas Drive. We almost pulled in at lunch, but not sure if they would have washed the ol' Ford Explorer or just laughed at us. I've never wanted a Harley so bad... those girls were ROCKIN' HOT!!!!!

NOTE FOR EVERYONE ELSE IN PCB: Be careful on the road this week. Take extra time to drive safely and look out for motorcycles on the road. Be safe!

90,000 bikers. Glad we are not coming until next weekend. Hopefully they will be gone by then. Surely the Harleys are not allowed on the beach. I know people along 30A dislike vehicles on the beach, beach chairs and umbrellas left out on the beach long term or abandoned, etc. Surely they will not be allowed to tear up or dirty up the beach.

No bikes on the beach.

In Bay and Walton Counties, you have to apply for a permit to drive a vehicle on the beach, and they only give them to people with legitimate reasons to drive on the beach (Jet Ski rental companies, etc)

I told my husband about this just now and he had a fit. He said if they are still down there when we come in next weekend we are not staying. But I just looked at the Panama City Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau site and it showed today through the 4th. I know he won't plan anything for May again, for more than one reason. BTW, how are the temps down there right now? Hope the air and water will be warm next week. We like the real warm temps that the end of August provides.

We are leaving today after work headed down there for the weekend. We didn't realize it was Thunder Beach when we made reservations Monday. (Spur of the moment thing) Oh well, we'll still have a blast....it'll just be crowded. The weather is calling for 50% chance of rain tomorrow...yuck!!

He is hoping they will be gone when we get down next weekend. One Panama City Beach website site said this was through the 4th. And as for the rain, you will be probably getting some of the stuff we have had since this afternoon.

We have had horrible storms since around 6:00 this evening. Heavy downpours, lightning, thunder and wind. Tornado warnings all around us. I think they need to include all of West Tennessee over to Central Tennessee in tornado alley and North Mississippi also, not just NW Tennessee.

We are under a thunderstorm watch until I don't know what time and a tornado watch until 2:00 a.m.! We could have 3 inches of rain out of this system before all is said and done. We still have a 80% chance of storms overnight.
